She got a little deep about the proper etiquette when getting blackout drunk, the true lies behind cartoon credits, and how fake comics are sometimes the realest comics out there. Ms. Kirkman was delightful to speak to and was cool enough to bullshit with us, give some behind-the-scenes realness, and get raw on current events. She has a new tour kicking off and you all should totally check it out: jenkirkman.com/tour-dates...more20minPlay
September 26, 2017Mantis Burn Racing - Battle Cars DLC (2017) Derrick and Pat's game reviewDerrick and Pat, both consummate racing fans and aficianados of destruction smash head-first into Mantis Burn Racing and it's Battle Cars DLC. Mantis Burn Racing is a combat racer in the spirit of RC Pro-Am. The Battle Cars DLC adds an element of 'Arch Rivals' to it! TO anyone unfamiliar with these old-school games, that means all sportsmanship goes out the window and the emphasis is now to make everyone else your bitch. Get mad, fight dirty, and talk $#!T... strategically! Mantis Burn Racing is a top-down racing game combining real-world physics with intuitive controls in ‘one-more-go’ style races. The game has it's high points and low points, like needing relatively low-end hardware (due to being a top-down racer). On the other hand, the menus and text screens seem to last forever, and reloading is noticably long. We had a lot to say about this one. Check it out...more15minPlay
September 26, 2017Tokyo 42 (2017) Jonny's game reviewTokyo 42 SOUNDED like an amazing game, and LOOKED like someone rebooted Blade Runner using only matches and LSD. Naturally this made us curious as hell to play it, but only Jonny drew the short straw to get a taste. He had a lot to say about it. Tokyo 42 is an action video game developed by SMAC Games and published by Mode 7, released in May 2017 for PS4, Xbone and Steam. It's a hyper-stylized isometric open-world shooter with a plot ripped form some frankensteined hodgepodge of 80s/90s action schlock - "Framed for a murder you didn't commit, you'll delve into a world of assassins, deadly corporate intrigue and cats. Explore this beautifully hand-crafted micro Tokyo and discover its secrets." Sadly JCVD did not make an appearance, but we were still jazzed to check this one out...more15minPlay
September 26, 2017Doctor Who - The Lost Dimension (2017) Whole Crew's comic reviewTurns out Pat's the only Dr.Who fan in the house! When we got to the in-depth nitty gritty deets of this comic set in the not one or two, but ALL the Doctors continuities, it seems he's the only one that wasn't left in the dust. That's not a negative on the crew, but rather it's telling of the intended audience of this series, which is blatantly targeted at Whovians and few else. A new era of Doctor Who comics begins with an amazing crossover event – The Void has always existed: “No place. The silent realm. The Lost Dimension.” But the void is no longer empty. The void is hungry. It’s devouring our universe – through time and space! Now, every Doctor must play his part to save… EVERYTHING! The story held tons of promise for the fan in the group, but how does it effect the newbies to the universe???...more12minPlay
September 26, 2017Geek Down 9-18-17 - Jen Kirkman, Doctor Who, and a Stick-figure Assassin walk into a bar...We talk the the exponentially awesome comic Jen Kirkman about getting blackout drunk professionally, cartoon credits behind the hype, and how fake comedians are sometimes the better than Tony Robbins. The indie game Tokyo 42 claims to be the bastard lovechild of Syndicate and GTA 1 — figuratively bold words from a literally thin game! Combat racing racing finally makes a comeback with with Mantis Burn Racing and we dissect the destruction in the new DLC. To top it off, when you need not one, not two or three, but ALL of The Doctor’s, things are completely %$!#ed!! We talk about the new Doctor Who: The Lost dimension comic....more1h 4minPlay
September 20, 2017Geek Down 9-11-17 - Tekken, Wind River, and Stephen King's IT... nightmare fuelHawkeye and Scarlet Witch reunite to NOT be Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch, in WIND RIVER. The demonism's in the air with a white-guy flattop and a fart joke on the horizon, in the 4-part TEKKEN comic series. Some days it just doesn't pay to rob banks, in the Safdie Brothers film GOOD TIME. And something special for horror fans and coulrophobics alike, as we take a disturbed peek from under the covers at Stephen King's IT...more1h 8minPlay
