Fireforge filed for bankruptcy just 3 days after releasing the Ghostbusters 2016. The game took a (relatively) rapid 8 months to develop, and released alongside middling film reviews. While WE loved the crap out of the 2016 Ghostbuster's movie, the rest of the world didn't. The Ghostbusters tie-in likely has little to do with Fireforge’s downfall. The company has been attempting to pay off more than $12m in debt for the last month. The majority of this sum comes from an alleged $11.3 million owed to Tencent, which owns 37 per cent of the developer and had been bankrolling an unreleased MOBA title

Jack Davis, a cartoonist and illustrator best known for being one of the founders of MAD Magazine, has died. In the early 1950s, Davis became a founding contributor to MAD magazine, where he worked for many decades — and effected future generations of artists including all of us at the Geek Down at some point in life.

An appeals court has ruled that French filmmaker Luc Besson is guilty of plagiarizing from John Carpenter's 1981 classic “Escape From New York." Being fans of both filmmakers, we had a lot to say on the matter and how sorely, sorely disappointed we are in Besson. Not mad, just... disappointed.

Vive is a virtual reality headset developed by HTC and Valve. Having won a buttload of awards, the Vive, is one of the front-runner VR systems today. The device uses two screens, one per eye, each with a 1080x1200 resolution, and more than 70 sensors for a complete environmental experience. A ghost invasion in NY prompts paranormal enthusiasts Erin Gilbert and Abby Yates, batshit crazy nuclear engineer Jillian Holtzmann, and subway worker (really, dude...?) Patty Tolan to band together, not only to prove that ghosts exist in modern society but also to stop the threat with badass prejudice. Despite our preconceived notions, we had a great time with this. Jonny and Pat break it down.

Tarzan, having acclimated to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment. Simple as that for a plot but somewhere you crowbar in Sam Jackson, supernatural ability to talk to animals, and a lot of grim on-screen murder in a pseudo family film... yeah, you might go all crosseyed like we did. Luckily there were washboard abs for days to keep us on track.

CBS rejected a new TV adaptation of "Nancy Drew" after the pilot, despite testing well, is deemed "too female skewed for CBS." Had the show been picked up, audiences would have been treated to a re-imagined Drew, starring Sarah Shahi, a woman of colour, as a thirty-something NYPD detective. The pilot is still shopping to other outlets, meaning the series could still see the light of day, but there's no guarantee.
