According to authorities in Newton County, Bennett was arrested for making harassing phone calls and threatening to kill Washington in July of last year. A warrant for his arrest in November said he was texting and calling Washington repeatedly to terrorize her. Those threats became a reality on the night of Saturday, June 11 when he shot and killed Washington and shot her mother Peggy Burns in the head. Burns was airlifted to the hospital and at last check, listed in critical condition.

Deputies said those threats of violence extended to his own child, Jaquari Bennett, who he shot and killed before taking his own life on the grounds of Riverdale First UMC on Sunday morning. While a condition of Bennett’s bond required him to avoid contact with Washington, authorities in Newton County said they don’t believe Washington filed a temporary protective order, which would have put additional restrictions around contact in place. They said the investigation into the incident is ongoing and that they do believe this was a case of domestic violence.

A 22-year-old murder suspect, who authorities said shot his ex-girlfriend's 9-year-old daughter in the head, is in custody. Houston police were looking for Jeremiah Jones after a deadly shooting at a Heights-area apartment complex late Monday night. Jones was taken into custody at about 6 p.m. by HPD SWAT & Tactical Team officers in a parking lot in the 22300 block of Imperial Valley Drive, HPD tweeted late Tuesday afternoon. Earlier, police had said Jones was charged with capital murder in the death of 9-year-old Khylie Sorrells, whose mother was also wounded in the same incident. Another child, a toddler, was in the home at the time of the shooting. Police said she was unharmed and is in the care of family members.

A GoFundMe account has been established for three daughters of Martella Tyler, who died Sunday in what police have said was a murder-suicide in Huntsville. Police said Justin Tyler killed Martella Tyler before taking his own life in what was described as a domestic dispute. Police said they responded shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday on a domestic disturbance call and arrived to find the north Huntsville house where the bodies were found on fire. Police said Wednesday that a juvenile was removed from the home at the time of the incident. The child was treated and released from a Huntsville hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said, and the child is in the custody of family members. Autopsies are planned for Martella Tyler and Justin Tyler. According to an arrest warrant, Justin Tyler was charged in February with first-degree domestic violence for injuring Martella Tyler with a pocketknife. In the description of the GoFundMe account, it states that one of Martella Tyler’s daughters was at the home Sunday but was able to escape. Kentucky State Police is investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a young couple in Simpson County. State police said that on Sunday morning at approximately 6:30, troopers responded to a shooting in the 600 block of Patton Road in Franklin. Upon arriving at the scene, police found 21-year-old Tierra N. Williams, of Franklin, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to The Medical Center at Franklin where she was pronounced deceased by the Simpson County Coroner’s Office, police said.

Troopers attempted to locate her husband, 25-year-old Jeremy D. Williams, also of Franklin, in connection with the shooting death of his wife. He was found deceased in his vehicle on northbound I-65 near the 23-mile marker. He had suffered an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” according to state police. Metro Boomin’s mother was killed by her husband before he took his own life this weekend, TMZ reports. Other outlets are saying the killer was her boyfriend. The news was initially reported by multiple outlets on Sunday before being confirmed by TMZ, which reveals that the body of Metro’s mother, Leslie Wayne, was discovered by authorities outside of the Atlanta area. Wayne was reportedly killed over the weekend by her husband, who was not Metro’s father, before he then killed himself. Source: Complex 

A man who shot and killed a woman, leaving her dead inside a vehicle in a Walgreens parking lot in DeLand, has been arrested, according to police. Officers said Wednesday that Robert Fleming, 36, was nabbed in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Fleming is accused in the death of Latosia Mitchell Warren, 36, whose body was discovered May 17 in the parking lot at the corner of East New York and South Amelia avenues. Officers said her body had likely been there for a few days. Police said the two, originally from Ohio, were romantically involved and had been in Central Florida for several months.

Investigators said Wednesday they’re still trying to construct a timeline for the alleged homicide. Police also revealed Wednesday that they actually came in contact with Fleming the same day they believe he left Warren and the car there, possibly just hours after. Police said Fleming was Baker Acted but released Sunday evening. Police said Fleming and Warren were in a relationship and visiting from Ohio. Umberger said they’re also working with investigators in other parts of Florida, including Osceola County regarding this case, too — but didn’t say why. Police have said he would face a charge of first-degree murder. It is not clear when Fleming will be brought back to Volusia County.

The authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in Kansas City, Missouri, on Friday evening and led to a suspect being hospitalized. Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating. It is protocol for an outside agency to investigate officer-involved shootings involving the KCPD. According to MSHP, just before 8 p.m. KCPD officers were following up on a previous dispatch from the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department. KCKPD had dispatched over-the-air about an alleged armed carjacking that happened, providing a thorough description and license plate.

KCMO officers then spotted the vehicle with two suspects inside at the parking lot of the Family Dollar near 7th and Prospect. Two police vehicles with two officers approached the suspect vehicle. At that point, the male driver ran away northeast and two officers pursued. The female passenger in the suspect vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Leonna Hale, then got out and fled into the parking lot. Leonna Hale remains alive and in severe but stable condition. A 29-year-old Kenosha man now faces multiple charges associated with the homicide of 30-year-old Montreach Mitchell at a hotel on Wednesday, May 25. The accused is Timmy Brooks – and he faces the following criminal counts: First-degree intentional homicide, Possession of a firearm by a felon, Bail jumping, felony (three counts), and Bail jumping, misdemeanor (two counts).

A 36-year-old woman was reportedly kidnapped, raped, and chained up in a house for days before being rescued by a good Samaritan who heard her screams for help. Antoine Dobine told WLS-TV he was walking near 119th Street and Eggleston Avenue on Saturday, May 21, on Chicago’s South Side when he heard the victim’s cries. Dobine said he asked the woman if there was anyone in there with her, and he called 911. Police arrived at the scene and "said her legs were chained and her hands were handcuffed."

At a Monday, May 23, news conference, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said, "We are bringing all of our resources to bear in bringing this offender to justice." Brendan Deenihan, chief of detectives, added, "We are working with the victim to try to get a better description of the defendant."

She was reportedly chained up in the home for four to five days. The victim was taken to the hospital for evaluation and praised Dobine for finding her. WLS reports the victim is homeless and is known around the neighborhood. One neighbor said the home where she was found has been vacant for 25 years.

Two people are dead following a murder-suicide at an apartment complex in Escambia County Monday afternoon. Escambia County deputies were dispatched to Stoddert Place Apartments on Tiger Lily Drive around 4:20 p.m. Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons says a man shot and killed a woman during an argument before turning the gun on himself.
