Authorities said an Evanston man hacked his sister to death with a 15-inch butcher's knife after she complained he was not doing enough housework. Karen Aphour, 30, was found lying in a pool of her blood on the kitchen floor of the home she shared with her mother and siblings in the 100 block of Callan Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, according to prosecutors. Evanston Fire Department paramedics rushed her to St. Francis Hospital, but she was pronounced dead shortly before 10 p.m., police said. Andy Aphour, her 26-year-old brother, is charged with the first-degree murder of his sister.

Police have identified the woman found shot dead in a car last week as 27-year-old Amber Butler. Houston police said she was in the late stages of pregnancy and that her unborn child did not survive. Butler was found just after 9:30 a.m. in a parked car on Willowbend Boulevard near Highway 90 on Friday. At that time, an HPD officer responded to a call of a person down in that area and found Butler unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a white Chevrolet Malibu, police said. The vehicle was found parked in a main lane of traffic with the engine still running. Police said Butler was found with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no evidence of weapons or ammunition near the scene, police said. They added that investigators do not believe the shooting was the result of aggressive driving or suicide. Rickia Crawford's family is still in shock after what happened on Monday, but they say seeing everyone share their memories of her is helping them get through. Police were called to the Crossings at Minshall Park apartments near 81st and Sheridan on Monday after reports of a naked man with an AR-15 firing shots in the area. That man, now identified as Dwayne Jackson, is suspected to have been having a mental breakdown. Unfortunately, the scene escalated. Jackson shot Rickia in the chest before being shot by police himself. She was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later. The family says they're not sure what may have caused Jackson to snap but their main focus now is taking care of Rickia's daughter. The family says they have been in contact with Jackson's family, and share pictures of the couple. They say there is no animosity between the families, as they truly believe this was a mental health crisis.

Memphis Police need your help finding a woman who has been missing for several months. 32-year-old Mary Jackson is a former University of Memphis basketball player, was in the real estate business and most recently worked at FedEx. Her father James Jackson said this is unusual behavior for his daughter. Jackson said he hasn’t heard from her in eight months. Her sister Marie Martin said she randomly ran into her sister about 4 months ago while she was living in an apartment complex on South Front Street. However, police said they don’t believe she’s lived there since July 2020. Family says Mary could possibly be in the Atlanta area. The Winston-Salem Police Department said on Monday a 20-year-old woman was killed in a domestic violence incident Sunday. A spokesperson for the department said a suspect had not been named nor charges filed because police are still investigating. According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, officers responded to the 2200 block of Lula Street, near Flag Street, around 7:10 p.m. Sunday to reports of shots fired. The area of the incident isn't far from Salem Parkway and Fifth Street. Bria Robinson, 20, was found suffering from a gunshot wound. Forsyth County Emergency Medical Services pronounced Robinson dead at the scene. "The Winston-Salem Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in this case. A 23-year-old woman from Ilford has died after eating what she thought was a cannabis sweet, bought on social media. Police have issued an urgent warning around the safety of the sweets, which are known as gummies and often presented in child-friendly packaging. A man has since been charged with a raft of drug offences in relation to the incident. On March 29, the woman ordered the “cannabis sweets” to her home in Ilford off a messaging app. Police said the batch was packaged in “Trrlli Peachie O’s” branding. The 23-year-old and a friend, 21, each ate one sweet and immediately felt unwell. The 23-year-old woman died in hospital on Saturday. A special post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course. Detectives are urgently trying to identify any other cases where Londoners have become seriously unwell after eating cannabis sweets, gummies and similar products.

A 42-year-old Milwaukee man is charged with first-degree reckless homicide for allegedly shooting and killing a woman at a residence near 30th and Concordia. The accused is Ellis Mitchell. According to the criminal complaint, Mitchell came into the District 7 police station in Milwaukee on Thursday, March 31. He "told officers working the desk that he was turning himself in because he had shot his girlfriend," the complaint says. The defendant told officers "he had shot her while the two were horse-playing. He said it happened a day-and-a-half earlier at his house" near 30th and Concordia -- and that her body was now in the basement. Mitchell made his initial appearance in Milwaukee County court on Tuesday, April 5. Cash bond was set at $75,000. Mitchell is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on April 13.

Police in Gary, Indiana are investigating the disappearance of a woman linked to a mysterious crash on I-65. Police say Ariana Taylor was last heard from on Saturday, April 2. Early on Sunday morning, police in Gary responded to a crash near the I-65 and the I-80/94 interchange, according to WGN. A vehicle that Taylor was in possession of had left the road and crashed below, but there was no one inside or nearby. Indiana State Police took over the crash investigation as a possible hit-and-run.

Gary police searched on foot, while the Lake County Sheriff’s Office used a helicopter to search the surrounding area. Family reported Taylor missing later on Sunday evening to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. She was reported missing on Monday, April 4 to Gary police. In addition to looking on foot and via helicopter, police say they also deployed K-9s, ATVs, and divers in their search for Taylor.

Ariana Taylor is described as a 23-year-old Black woman. She is approximately 5’6″ tall and 200 pounds. She was last seen wearing a red sweater, ripped blue jeans and gym shoes. Brandon Francisco, the person of interest in the disappearance of Ella Goodie, was arrested by U.S. Marshals in St. Joseph, Missouri on active warrants out of Rapides Parish, Louisiana. Francisco is currently in custody with U.S. Marshals in Missouri, according to Scott Police Chief Chad Leger. Francisco is a person of interest in the disappearance of Ella Goodie, a woman from Scott, La. who went missing on March 9. Goodie is a contract driver and was last seen before reportedly driving a customer to Houston, Texas. Again, Ella was last known to be driving west on Interstate 10 toward Texas in her car, a 2012 Audi Q5 with Texas license plate NRN6551. She was last seen wearing a denim jacket with blue pants. Police are investigating a shooting on Long Island after a woman was fatally shot inside of a parking garage. The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. underneath a medical office complex police said. They did not say how many shots were fired or what may have motivated the attack. A spokesperson for Northwell Health said the woman, an employee, was shot in the facility’s publicly accessible parking lot. Northwell Health members provided her aid on the scene, but she was later pronounced dead at another area hospital. The suspect is still at large.
