The Give Me Five Podcast: An Uncultured Look at Pop Culture and Nostalgia

Lets talk snacks! (and attractive murderous babysitters) This week on the show we were clearly a bit hungry, because our conversation about Mickey's Very Merry Christmas segues into a discussion of our favorite theme park snacks. We also chat about Netflix's The Babysitter and a new album by Roadkill Ghost Choir. We also look into the foundations of comic books with the great new AMC show Robert Kirkman's Comic Book History and then ruin a bit of our childhood by watching SLC Punk 2. (don't)

Our Question this week is what are the best exclusive theme park snacks?

After a week off Rob, Jimmy and Greg are back with a huge show. Join us as we chat about Thor: Ragnarok, The Walking Dead, 1922, Stranger Things 2, Lady Mechanika and Spooky Empire. Also, laugh at Jimmy when he coins a new term "butt gusting?

Our Question this week is now that you have finished Stranger Things 2, where can you go to get that same nostalgic feeling?

Just a little message about a planned break this week to relax and recover from the October shenanigans. We'll be back next week to chat about Thor: Ragnarok and of course stranger things.

Feel free to drop us a message with your opinions on either of those things or anything else on your mind and we will discuss during the show.

For our last episode of the Halloween season, we got author and filmwriter Joe Ballarini (Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting, My Little Pony: The Movie) to chat with us about his book and career. Plenty of nostalgia, mixed in with good advice for writers. (we try to be trivial, sometimes we fail) There's no regular "five" in this one, just a bunch of chat about following one's dreams across the country and kicking werewolves in the crotch. We also do an abstract reenactment of much of The Lost Boys.

Stick around for the question: What are some fun family friendly things to do with your kids for Halloween?

Dear god... things started off great then fall off the rails quickly. Stick around for the outtakes to hear (smell?) why. We chat about EA's history of killing off studios, the brand new E.P. by the Midnight, a concert featuring Synthwave artists Dance With the Dead, Moondragon and Gost, the TV show The Orville, and streaming shows Lore (Amazon Prime) and Friday the 13th fan film Never Hike Alone (free! on Youtube) Then we discuss the best Halloween candy until someone ruins the show.

The Give Me Five guys clearly angered a gypsy, because after Rob's car accident last week, Greg decided to fall down some broken stairs. Broken ass aside, the guys chat about Shadows of War (the new Shadows of Mordor game), Lets Play 2 (the Pearl Jam / Cubs movie), a great experience making life castings for special FX make up at Reynolds Advanced Materials, the Netflix Exclusive Gerald's Game and a bunch of other stuff.
