The Give Me Five Podcast: An Uncultured Look at Pop Culture and Nostalgia

You've heard everyone else's educated opinion about Star Wars: The Last Jedi, now it's time to hear from the goofs behind The Give Me Five Podcast. To help us on our journey we've enlisted a lifelong Star Wars fan and porgaphobe to help. We chat about our history with Star Wars, our opinions on the movie, and some of the finer plot points. We spend less time than expected on Snoke and far more time than we expected on Kylo Ren's abs. It's a great SPOILER FILLED conversation from beginning to end.

Question of the week:

What are your five favorite Star Wars Moments?

As usual you can chime in via email at: [email protected] or at our Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/givemefivepodcast/

Music:

The Force Theme by Scandroid off the album Monochrome

Available on Bandcamp

The holiday season is in full swing and with it comes Cannibal Corpse! Also a pretty well-educated discussion of net neutrality (good!) and the impending merger of Disney and 20th Century Fox. We also re-visit the shocking mid-season finale of The Walking Dead, a fun Christmas horror film called Better Watch Out and USA Network's Psych: The Movie.

Of course since some of us are in the Christmas spirit, the question of the week is: What are your Five Favorite Christmas Songs?

On this week's Give Me Five Podcast and Book Club, we talk about a new book set right in our backyard, Orlando, and a book series set in a far away land. We also get technical and discuss the new affordable 3D printing option from Monoprice. $150 3D Printer?!? If that doesn't get your nerd-alert up, Rob will tell us about the new Ren Faire that hit Orlando, and finally we will close things out with the 4-episode Crisis on Earth X crossover event that ran through Supergirl, Arrow, Flash and Legends of Tomorrow on the CW. This leads in to our question, what are your five favorite crossovers?

Segment Times:
10:38 Red Queen's War Trilogy - Mark Lawrence (Book series)
18:53 Naked Alliances S.K. Nicholls (Book)
28:43 Ren Faire

Jimmy is back and angrier than ever that Frozen shorts and Walking Dead spinoffs exist. This week we take on the stunning Pixar film Coco, the not-as-violent-as-one-would-expect Punisher on Netflix, a cavalcade of nerds catching digital monsters with the Pokemon global challenge, an undersold-as-to-how-funny-it-is movie What We Do In The Shadows, and an aptly named movie Creep 2.

Coming out of our Punisher love, the Give Me Five Question of the week is: What are your top 5 favorite vigilante movies / tv shows?

Here at the Give Me Five Podcast we are thankful for our listeners (and coffee)

We're talking turkey this week. MST3K Turkey Day, Justice League (is it a turkey or is it a huge leap forward?), and our least favorite Thanksgiving foods. Also a great album by Highly Suspect and an incredible single shot episode of Mr. Robot.

Jimmy took the week off to visit his family so we called in some guest stars. Comedian Cal Hankerman is back and a first time guest, Omar Vasile (educator, history buff, drummer, Romanian) lend their voices and opinions to the show.

Hungry for more? The Give Me Five Question of the week is: What are your top 5 LEAST favorite Thanksgiving foods?
