INTERVIEW: The Eastern Cape plans to boost its vaccination drive by targeting men in taverns and taxi ranks. This is in response to the reported low numbers of men coming forward to be vaccinated. The Eastern Cape province has vaccinated just over one million people. 

BE DRIVEN: The University of Cape Town has appointed Yandiswa Xhakaza as the director and principal of its UCT Online High School.

Xhakaza started as an English teacher in 2010, and went on to become CEO of a national literacy organisation, the Nal’ibali Trust.

She holds a Bachelor of Education, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management, and a Master of Business Administration.

INTERVIEW: A Limpopo father is fighting a legal battle to be with his daughter following the maternal grandparent’s refusal to grant him access to his child. The mother of his child passed away in a road accident in 2017 and he last saw his 5-year-old daughter in February this year. We’re now joined on the line by the father Castro Musinyali who’s also founded an organization called We Are Fathers We Are Parents and later we’ll speak to the Commission for Gender Equality about a report they released on fathers being denied access to their children.

ARTS: Khuzani Bo is a new reality TV show which will premiere on SABC 1 on 26 September at 5:30 in the afternoon. The show follows the life of Maskandi artist Khuzani Mpungose whose song titled Ijele received over a million votes to win song of the year on Ukhozi FM earlier this year. He’s also the first Maskandi artist to fill up Moses Mabhida Stadium. We now speak to the executive producer and director of the show, Legend Manqele.
