Sian, lost her older brother - Llyr, in 2018 after his 15 year long battle with a brain tumour. We discuss grief, sibling loss, mindset and perspectives as Sian is now older than her brother was when he died.

Now as a high profile celebrity supporter of The Brain Tumour Charity, Sian is joining the conversation that was absent before her brother’s death, and joining forces with the community to be part of the change.

In memory of Joe Rawcliffe

The GlioBabes, a podcast created by two young women who were both diagnosed with brain tumours at a young age. Mel and Mol are creating a safe space to talk about their experiences and to raise awareness of brain tumours and ill health within the young population.

In this episode, Mel and Mol welcome Richard Rawcliffe, the father of Joe, who died of a brain tumour in January 2020 after being dismissed from September 2019 despite many GP appointments. The Northern Joe’s Fund set up in his name has raised over £100,000, and his birthday falls with this release of this episode (May 25th) where Richard will be taking on his annual challenge to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity.

We do talk about the access to GP concerns, as we know 1 in 10 wait over a year for their diagnosis, and most brain tumours are diagnosed in A&E settings.

We hear about his Mum, his journey as a son watching his Mother face this horrific disease and why he’s taking this next level challenge to raise funds for The Brain Tumour Charity.

In this episode, Mel and Mol engage in a heartfelt conversation with Gracie Nuttall, who has been in the global spotlight for brain tumour and sibling loss awareness since her sister, Laura, was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer in 2018.

Laura, sadly passed in May 2023. Gracie has since gone on to set up her own podcast, raise money in Laura’s name and use her large platforms to talk about these difficult topics.

In this episode we hear more about Gracie's journey. Through advocacy as a family, raising money through crazy challenges and the importance of continuing the conversation.
