Let’s Recap 2020. Most would say that 2020 was the worst year of their life. We differ from that opinion. Yes, we struggled. Yes, Eric lost his job. I went through the most painful thing I have ever had to do at a job- I had to lay off almost my entire team. (Let’s not mention the day that Eric got laid off, I had to lay off my team. Talk about a day full of fear and so much sobbing). Yes, we uprooted everything. Yes, I will be honest, we moved fast because we were scared. It was so uncomfortable. We left our friends. We left behind our family and friends. We left our security systems. We left our gym. We sold our house.
Let me tell you why all of that is positive. Without all of this, we never would have re-branded. We never would have pushed. We never would have chased something bigger. We never would have gotten so uncomfortable. We went all in and I am so excited.
Go Big in 2021. You have nothing standing in your way. You have a new year ahead of you. You spent a year in growing pains, so let’s go up and move forward with something bigger.
Here is how I am approaching it.
Make a vision board.
If you want to constantly be pushing towards your dreams, you MUST see them. You must see them every single day. Rip up magazines, draw pictures, write words. Create a vision board of your 2021 and where you want to see yourself grow and go.
Pick a Word or Phrase of the Year.
My 2021 phrase of the year is “grounded and growing”. Having a word of the year gives you a measuring stick to base your decisions upon. For 2020, my word of the year was “level up”. I turned to “level up” whenever I needed to make a choice. When things got hard, I went back to my word to decide how to pivot. I can honestly say that I am proud of how I leveled up in 2020. For 2021, you will see me intentionally base my decisions on the “grounded and growing” mindset.
Write Out Your Goals
I am writing out three goals. These three goals have to be BIG. Stop dreaming and setting goals that are small and achievable. If you only set goals for yourself that you know you can achieve, you are not stretching yourself hard enough.
For each major goal, write out a few micro-goals that will get you closer to that major goal.
Let me break this down with an example.
Major Goal: I want to run a half marathon in January 2022.
Micro Goal 1: I will run 3 miles a day, 2x a week for 4 weeks.
Micro Goal 2: I will run 4 miles a day, 3 days a week.
Micro Goal 3: I will run 5 miles a day, 3 days a week.
Micro Goal 4: I will run 20 miles a week
Micro Goal 5: I will run 10 miles in a single run!
Share your vision boards, your goals, and your word on your social media. Tell people what you are doing. Manifest it. Live it. Breathe it. Let’s put 2020 behind up and chase the biggest goals in 2021!
Let’s freaking get after it!!!
