I remember the day when God revealed his true abundance to me. It was much simpler than what I had expected. After spending the whole day eating food grown from the land, I stepped into a wood-burning sauna and then dipped into a cold plunge. Despite having negative money in my bank account, God had provided in a way that changed my life and my perception of wealth and abundance. This experience of luxury was the true abundance of God, and it was unexpected and beautifully humbling.

In this week’s episode, I get really honest about some of the personal challenges I have been trying to overcome, including a "wellness practice" that was suffocating me with unrealistic expectations and ideas of "health, wellness, balance, and abundance."

I pray, that in the year 2024, we can put aside our sinful nature and stop seeking balance. Instead, let us seek holiness and reflect on our behavior, actions, and beliefs that keep us in unhealthy and unhealed patterns.

Let us think aboutwhywe do the things we do, andchoose something differently. Let us strive to live a life that pleases Him so that when we reach the gates of heaven, we will hear His voice welcoming usin love. Not condemnation.

Matthew 7:21-23 tells us, “On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’”

To walk as Jesus walked, we must be willing to endure the struggles and moments of betrayal, burden, heartache, and grief that come with life. Although Jesus was fully divine, he was also fully human and experienced the same emotions and challenges that we face without falling into sinful nature.

The year 2023 was a year of both growth and grief for many of us. His faithfulness and holy scripture guide us on how to endure and move forward. Trusting in Him and His timing helps us cultivate and strengthen our faith, and He uses everything we experience to bring us closer to Him and glorify Himself.

It's easy to make things about ourselves, but we must remember that everything was made through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16-17 tells us, “For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”

God's perfect plan doesn't come without moments of growth, but Romans reminds us that we can find hope even while suffering. “And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:3-5)

We can endure life’s most difficult challenges because He who promises is faithful.

The Lord has been highlighting a particular message to me, which I didn't plan on sharing in this week's podcast episode. However, during my prayer time this morning, I kept hearing the phrase "This is a right now word." Although it made me a bit anxious, I trusted the leading of the Holy Spirit and allowed Him to guide me in this episode where we learn together and gain insights from Hezekiah's story in the book of Isaiah. 

In Isaiah 39:8, Hezekiah acknowledged that the word of the Lord spoken to him was good. However, as I read this passage, the Holy Spirit revealed to me that Hezekiah was content with the peace and safety he had in his lifetime, without thinking about the future of his descendants. This made me think, how often do we let our current comfort level determine our decisions without considering the welfare of our children and their future generations? With this in mind, this message is relevant to us all, as we ponder on the present and future implications of our choices and how they will impact our children’s children.

He loves us so well that sometimes he corrects us through discipline. Speaking with young people has brought back many of the feelings and challenges I faced in my own life. It made me wonder why it had taken me so long to hear "Well done, good and faithful servant" when I wasn't as faithful as I had thought.

God reveals his heart to us through his words, the community of Christian fellowship, and discipline to change our behavior and actions. As a young girl, I needed the adults in my life to ask me more difficult questions that could have helped me get to the root of the heart of service. Saying "I don't know" left me feeling like following Jesus was not enough, and having a plan was the only way. But even when we mess up and make wrong turns, the love of Christ is a redemption story from the very beginning, predestined, prophesied, and the greatest love story ever told.

John 3:16-17 tells us, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

Most people leave out verse 17, but to me, it paints an even greater love story. Not to condemn us, but to save the world through him. It is God's perfect redemptive plan for humanity. May we continue to seek him and the narrow way, always placing his heart at the forefront of everything we do.

"Teen Talks" is a testament to the inspiring faith and courage of the Gen-Z generation. Guided and fueled by the Holy Spirit, these young adults are walking boldly and living out their faith with great conviction. Their hearts, minds, and spirits are moved by the Holy Spirit, empowering them to achieve amazing things. It's truly inspiring to witness their unwavering faith and steadfast commitment to living a life that glorifies God.

Meet my friend Mallorri, whose spirit sparked the idea behind "The God Who Sees Me" podcast. During youth group, her almost always bubbly attitude was different and her spirits were low. As we prayed with her, I heard the Lord say, "I see you because I knew you needed this." It was a huge shift in how we witness God working through our community and with those that we are loved by.

A junior in High School, Mallorri shares her perspective of a thirsty faith in a private Christian school setting and how that has influenced her boldness in the high school halls. She talks about the challenging hallway of "singleness" and how she continues to pray for the Lord to prepare her AND her future husband to be a God fearing man.

This was a lovely conversation, with great encouragement for those in any phase of life. I loved sharing in conversation with Mall and pray that her words bring you peace, a unique perspective, and fuel to your faith and prayer life.

Ephesians 3:14-21, "For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family  in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."

Community takes on many shapes and forms, but belonging to one is different and unique to its members. My husband Corey joins us this week as we connect and reflect on how God has invited us to grow roots in our local community and has challenged us to change our thinking in a big way. 

“Put your money where your mouth is” has nothing to do with money, and has everything to do with taking action and putting your energy where your heart is. We share a cup of coffee and discuss how stewarding resources has looked different than we expected and the process of putting faith, trust, and obedience into action through this next stage and phase of life. Trusting the Lord with his timing and allowing Jesus to be the mediator of our relationship, as he has continued to draw us nearer to Himself.

Talks of legalism have stirred much in my heart over the last few weeks, as the Lord continues to reveal himself through conversations about “What a Christian looks like?” When I look at myself, I doubt that I fit the traditional “mold” of what it means to be a Christian, even though I am a Christian in every sense of the word. 

I love Jesus deeply and intimately, and I know that I am loved the same by him… so if I don’t “look” like a Christian, who is to say that I am not one? Perhaps you’ve heard the words “salvation” and “sanctification”? Many people practicing legalism believe that because of a spiritual discipline, they are “more of a Christian” than someone else, as they are further along in their “process to purity.” 

As Paul the apostle once wrote, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). 

Judging people based on our walk is a slippery slope that will pit the church against each other and keep us stuck in division, instead of bringing forward a pure bride. 

This wasn’t how Jesus treated people, and it’s not how we should treat people either. 
May people know us first by our love, that they are loved unconditionally by our Father in Heaven, and although he wants us to be transformed into the image of his son, he still loves them AS THEY ARE. Here. Now. Not in six weeks, once they’ve stopped drinking or when they start wearing a skirt. 

No, Jesus loves them now. He cares for them deeply NOW.

May our heart of Christ allow others to know just how deeply our Father in heaven cares for them, that he sent his son to be an example of what it means to live in this world as a child of God. That we stop trying to live up to the impossible standards of the law, but be changed by the example of a living Christ… who desires for us to be in a relationship with him. 

May we be challenged and stretched this week.

Legalism? Fundamentalism? What even is it?? 

On this week’s episode, I speak with our guest Christiana Miller | @womnofvalor, who shares with us her experience of breaking free from the IFB church in her early twenties. A pastor’s daughter with most of her early years traveling full-time with her family on a bus, she shares her story and experience and the many lessons she’s learned. She took a leap of faith and lost many people that she knew and loved.

She took a leap of faith by walking away from all that she knew, and many relationships that she believed to be built on Christ rejected her completely.

It left her isolated and shunned. God did great work on her heart during this time. Christina’s experience is unique to her, but unfortunately is the story for many who are stuck in churches that practice legalism, putting a fence where God intended for freedom. Her experience and words are SO important and I was blessed to share in a conversation with her.

Miscommunication and misunderstandings (sin) have been a root cause of challenges in our marriage. During our travels, the Lord used a simple tool to help us learn to communicate and has continued to redeem this part of our story and glorify himself through it all.

Learning to communicate our needs to each other helped create enough space for the other person to express AND be heard. Ultimately our growing faith brought Jesus into the center of our relationship (something that was always missing for us) and he healed many of the wounds we were still holding onto. Jesus became our mediator, letting his love live in between us so that we remember that we are children of God, loved fully and completely by Christ, even if we aren’t at our best.

Paul tells us in Galatians 5:14, that the entire law is summed up in a single command: “To love your neighbor as yourself”.I have feelings, wants, and needs but with this commandment, I remember that my spouse does, too. To love him well is to recognize that he has feelings, wants, and needs, and I want to experience love as I desire to be loved. His perfect love is found in 2 Corinthians.

The Bible tells us that we must take captive every thought, belief, need, desire, and feeling and make it obedient to Christ. Using this tool to help you better communicate your needs brings them obedient to Christ by consistently bringing scripture into it. It has been a technique that has served our marriage well. Is our marriage and communication perfect? We thank God for the gift of grace every single day.

I pray this tool helps you strengthen your walk with Christ, and helps you love your neighbor as yourself.

Introducing a new series, “Teen Talks” inspired by the workings of the spirit in the Gen-Z generation, an inspiring group of young adults who are walking boldly and in great faith as the Holy Spirit moves in their hearts, minds, and spirits. 

Meet my friend Tessa, who recently told me that her faith has gained “roots” and that Jesus has revealed himself to her, time and time again. Growing roots in my faith was something that I was desperately seeking at her age, we pray that this conversation brings light to your own walk and inspires you to continue to walk out your faith walk. 

As we discuss openly how the Lord is teaching her in this season, she shares great insight into her personal journey of faith, the challenges that she witnesses in her generation, and how we can continue to encourage them as they continue to let Jesus lead.
