Adoration- tick. Confession - tick. Thanksgiving - tick. But what about asking God for things? Is it kosher? Is it less important than other forms of prayer? Does it mean we are weak and unable to look after ourselves if we ask God for lots of things?
Remember who you are talking to, says Matt. He is a God who involves himself in our humanity by self revelation and intimacy. He is a father who loves us to ask him, indeed who asks us to ask him, as we need him desperately, just as little children need their parents.
Asking is the pinnacle of humility.
In order to see God’s kingdom come in our lives and across the world, we need God’s resources- we need to ask him from our own lack to resource us from his riches. Persistence is a virtue according to Luke 18:1-8.
Matt builds a biblical case for justice focussed prayers as well as asking for our daily needs.
