From the Bible passages Genesis 11 and Acts 2, Tim talks about the power of common language and of clear communication, leading to technological progress. This has lead to much of mankind not having to struggle just to feed themselves and their families, but being able to research, to build, to diversify.

The great pitfall of this progress can be an arrogant affirmation of mankind's self sufficiency and a reliance on self.

However mankind still seeks for meaning and purpose beyond the physical, in the realm of the transcendent.

Pentecost trumps Babel, igniting a new fire amongst humans, the fire of the Holy Spirit in salvation and a new experience of God's destiny for us.

God's intention for his church is to be an international body of born again people. Locally it is the 'ecclesia" or local gathering of these people. In the Pastoral Epistles, Paul the Apostle talked about the church as God's household. God's household is characterised by real, intimate and kind relationships, by transparency when we do wrong and forgiveness, by inclusivity.

The church is a spiritual family. Ephesians 5:31-32 describes the relationship between God and the church in terms of an intimate marriage. To make any difference in the world we the church need to go back - allowing God to heal the broken and wounded parts of our past - so we can move forward. This is a better path than choosing instead to mask the pain of our past using distractions or self medication. There are consequences to these choices which lead to life defining moments - either good or bad. Josh outlines how to let go of the pain of our past, especially letting go of the dysfunction of our family of origin, so that we are free to do life God's way in Jesus' new family

Christine lost both of her parents in the Rwandan genocide where 100 million of her people group were slaughtered. After living in extreme poverty, she was adopted as a Compassion sponsored child. Her life was radically transformed as she came to know Jesus as her Lord and Saviour. She shares her testimony thanks those who are Compassion sponsors, and calls on the church to help bring people out of poverty and hopelessness into a hope and a God given ministry of leadership in their nations and in the Kingdom of God.

God wants us to see things that we can't naturally see. He can do for us way more than we could see or imagine for ourselves. Sometimes we are in a "valley" and can't see a way out - but God can see it.

From the biblical books of Ephesians and Hebrews Pastor Sue teaches us how to see with God's eyes - a different perspective on life as we look down on earthly life from heavenly places where we are seated with Christ.
