We all plant and we all reap a harvest in life. Sow Godly ideas and thinking and reap Godly actions. Sow thoughts which increase the desires of your lower human nature and you will reap a whole lot of destructive behaviours which steal your love, joy, peace, health and in the end, your very life.

Sow to your higher spiritual nature and you will reap life in all its fullness. Being proud and being consumed with oneself sows to our human nature.

However, living with love for God and love for others allows life and light to flow through us to others, making us into the magnificent person we were meant to be. What is righteousness? Is it a measure of how good we are? No. In terms of "goodness", we have nothing to offer to God. From the story of Elisha raising a young boy from the dead, Pastor Sue explains what it means to use the "weapons of righteousness" which God has placed in our right and left hands. The sword of righteousness is God's gift to us when we accept Jesus as our Lord and saviour. When we feel useless or unworthy we just need to remember God's gift of righteousness, of being God's precious child, his heir, of his love freely poured out on us.

We then need to move from being a spectator of life to being a "player", a person who fights for goodness and justice and the advancement of the Kingdom of God in this world.

Then we can move from living life as a victim to living life as a victor.

We all know it's useful and helpful, but it doesn't always excite us. Sometimes we view the Bible like we view a set of instructions for a piece of IKEA furniture - we often need for it but think we can probably achieve the same outcome by trail and error.

2 Kings 22-23 tells the story of a Kong of Ancient Israel - King Josiah. Using the story of Josiah's discovery of God's word and his commitment to obey the word, Asher explains why it is so good for us to read the Bible.

2 Corinthians 5:14 speaks of believers dying to their old life just as Christ died for them. Beginning with this idea of dying to our old life, Sue teaches on the old life and the new life. the old self and the new self.

Is it so wrong to live for self? What does it mean to live for self?

Living to meet our own needs by own own means is a dangerous and shaky foundation to build a life upon. It can break relationships, it lowers our standards in many areas of ethics and behaviour.

The new life is one of relying on God and being controlled by the love of Christ, leading to a life of "shalom"!
