  • How to Detect Lies
Next in the series on How to Think Better: "How to Detect Lies."
Also, available now is a pdf that would be an exercise/review on our series. It is just fun. It is NOT a test for sure! It is just a chance to try to apply better thinking -- and better responses to worse thinking. This one would work for children, tool.
Now, if I had interest, I could turn this into a course, and then there would be exercises and test directly keyed to the lesson. But you know... that takes time and attention. I can't devote that much time without any kind of remuneration. Let me know if you are interested -- by contributing to it.

  • Contact Me If You Would Like to Run a School
Contact Me If You Would Like to run a School. Would you like to teach in your own school? Run a school? Do you love children? Do you have a large living/dining room and a backyard? How about a church building with safe entrance from parking and safe exit to a playground. That is about what you need --- plus some how to knowledge that I can provide. Check out this episode. Mico-schools are a thing. Big schools take a while and some money, but micro-school do not.
Also, a licensed childcare center can be a great mission for the church that has an adequate building.
But DO NOT THINK THAT YOU CAN DO IT just out of what you have seen. Most schools are ... well range from mediocre at best to really horrific. Well, yes, that is why we need some new schools. Children need to be rescued out of them. But, on the other hand, I see adults who were formed by and certified by these horrific schools. Let's get some education. Good news: doesn't take long.

  • More on Healing – Definite Scripture from Apostle Peter
Following up on the idea of healing being available. Here is a definite, obvious scripture from no less that Apostle Peter, repeated what we learned from Isaiah 53 and from Jesus quoting it. Now, after Jesus' resurrection, Peter affirms that we have healing in Jesus's finished work.

  • THINK BETTER: There IS Truth
Continuing our series about how to think better, I show you how to look for evidence. Lots of people make claims. Few think to give you good evidence. Often because they don't have it; they only have emotion or hearsay or opinion. Some, however, intentionally give you a partial story, with lots of emotion, in order to trick and weaponize you.
    Don't be fooled.
    And be persuasive.
Oh, wait, great writing, but on wrong topic. This week: THERE IS TRUTH. School has worked so hard for so long to teach us that there is no such thing as truth. But we know better. When you take your motorcycle in, you know whether or not it runs when you get it out. Either it runs or it doesn't. So you know there is fact.
Similarly, you can test Truth. And besides, just because things here are in a mixed state, that doesn't mean that there couldn't be, in the abstract, Truth. You can conceive of it, and that, in the abstract is proof enough.
And wow it makes a difference. If someone can convince you that there is not truth, then they can convince you that anything they say is the truth. Then you are enslaved. There is Truth; you can know it; therefore, you can be free.
    I invited you to listen.

  • Healing Prayer
I have been asked, and have been meaning to, post more about healing prayer. It is always needed. Mom always care about their children who are hurting. Some of us are tempted to be freaked out about the widespread serious injuries from the ... youknowwhat.
At this point, we know we also need some healing prayers for our nation.
    Let's pray.

  • Think Better by Looking for and Evaluating Evidence
Think better by looking for and evaluating evidence.
A lot of people don't even give you evidence, but just emotional slogans. Watch out for this! You are being deceived, tricked, and led around by the nose. Slow it down, and remember to look for evidence.
Other people refuse to consider what I have to say, because it contravenes "what they know" but they fail to hear out the evidence. Remember to slow down and hear the evidence.
In other cases, people do give you evidence, but it is faulty or fragmentary. Remember to evaluate the evidence. Is it strong?
Hear more about how you -- and your children-- can think better by demanding and evaluating evidence.

  • Independence Day, Juneteenth, Character and the New England Primer
I hope you all have a wonderful day celebrating Independence. July the 4th is the day that we celebrate liberty (freedom under the rule of law) in the United States. It is evident that we must all work toward this goal these days. Part of that is teaching civics.
In the early American colonies and during the founding of the United States, until very late in the 1800s, we used The New England Primer to teach reading, based in Biblical principles. This became the value set that was passed down and continued to buttress our way of governing ourselves. Founders said that only a virtuous Christian people could be governed in liberty. We have forgotten much of this, and been taught contrary ideas.
Today, I discuss first the little product I have of 6 audio episodes discussing the civics of the New England Primer. Then, discussing why it is important to teach civics and actual history, I tell an amusing incident that recently happened to me, regarding Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a holiday IN TEXAS that remembers the day that the Emancipation Proclamation was announced in Texas, the state in the confederacy the farthest away from Washington DC and President Lincoln. Of course, we are for liberty and against enslavement. Aren't we?
So, let's do a quick review of history, and consider the teaching of Civics. And btw, I have a 75% off sale on the New England Primer set of episodes (teaching civics, not reading). Go to STORE on the tab above.

  • Summer Activity : Introduce the Bible
Last night I was at a presentation by a very bright young woman who mentioned along the way, that even though she was going well in college and career, she was embarrassed because she had no idea how to find things in the BNible. Of sure, she had gone to church growing up, but when Bible passages were mentioned, they were at most shown on the screen. She had no idea how to look something up.
Well, let's fix that! Bible introduction: generally New Testament, and Old Testament: introduction to the ooganization, what the various book topics are, how to find an index (concordaqnce.) -- all in 30 minutes.

  • Encountering God is the Best of Summer Activities
Every year the episode on activities to do during the summer is a popular episode. This year, we are running a little them, with some rebroadcasts of old interviews. Be sure to hear what Becky Fischer told us about children encountering God, not just having a few warmed over stories in the basement. (Guess what her young life was like? Well, not exactly: she was the preacher's daughter and had to teach the children in the basement when she was young. After a successful business career, she is now teaching teachers and children alike..)
So, this week, Mr. Wisenhutter, then of Austin, a high tech worker, shared with us his youth program, where again, the students encounter God for themselves. Given both opportunity and oversight, youth can go just about what adults can. In this day and hour, it is imperative to give children and youth access to wholesome life change, life affirming, life protective experiences. There is no waiting around!
This is not a dreary drug prevention campaign! This is a real high in Holy Spirit. Check it out.

  • Summer Activity with Lasting Impact — More than Most VBSs
All over the country there are advertisements for Vacation Bible School right now. signing your child up is a great idea. I knew one daycare owner who bussed her children to several. With permission, of course.
But, how about a program that has lasting impact, one that provides for the child to have a direct encounter with God. Finger plays, Bible stories, and raft time are all great, assuming developmentally appropriate, but check out what Becky Fischer is doing.
Her curricula is deeper and more real than any I have seen. Yes, it uses realia, but if fosters a personal relation between the child and God.
Children are not just the church of the future; they are today's church. Children are not some fifth wheel just to be relegated to babysitting. They can really do things. Check this out.
Thanks to Becky Fischer, who gave us this interview maybe about 10 years ago. I took grandsons to an event, and although they are grown now, they still remember it fondly.
