  • Mothering and Salvation
The problems that mothers feel the most have changed over the years. Back in the 1980s we were tormented that our children were not doing well in school. In the early 2000s, we learned that "learning disabilities" were common. We were then puzzled why we were having so many physiological issues that "no one knew about." We began to be locked into controversy about whether vaccines caused autism. By the 20 tens we were just overwhelmed by the massive problems our children were having. In the 2020 we are flabberghasted at the problems that society is bringing us. We just hope our children are not raped, mutilated, or alienated from us. We think now that learning problems like "learning disabilities" are largely dealt with. We are exhausted.
The root cause of everything is evil in the world, brokenness of humanity. Wouldn't it be great if there were one over-arching solution? Good news. There is. We call it salvation. Today, for most people, this word has a strange, religious smell to it. It means rescue! In Central America, there is a beer named "Salvation" because there the refreshing quality of a cold beer could find no better term!  Salvation is rescue, it is refreshing, it is also a total renewal of reality.
As mothers, as grandmothers, as educators, we sure need a resurrection out of decay, dirtiness, and darkness.  Jesus is there. He brought it to us. Came down from heaven to walk among us humans, to offer His Divine Hand.
Hear how this could apply in your child's life.
    Blessings.

  • She Was NOT “Kicked Out” of Class — How to Handle Controversy in College
Keying off a post on X.com that sparked a big controversy about ideological indoctrination in colleges and universities, I teach you how to handle controversies in class as a college student. I also expose the trickery in this particular post and how the controversy got sparked. I even give you some tips about how to be effective in the controversy about sexualization and leftist indoctrination in college.Charlie Kirk was effective because he was truthful and knowlegable.
NOTICE AND AVOID DISTRACTION THAT DETRACTS FROM YOUR LIFE
Some people want to make hay by ... spin. Other want to pick our pockets or worse while distracting us by getting us to fight with each other. Find out how to avoid this.
So, the incident a couple of weeks ago claimed that a student was kicked out of class for refusing to go along with sexual indoctrination. Actually what the video showed was the professor agreeing to let the student leave, after the student makes some outrageously ignorant comments. She was not kicked out. We don't have enough of the video to actually know the professor was up to.  What we do hear is not adept, but without context we can not judge that she was indoctrinating the student. Maybe she was, but everyone in the story handled themselves badly.
HERE IS HOW TO PROCEED IN A MORE EFFECTIVE MANNER
Here is how to do better.
Controversy is a must as a subject in college. It is a must because one will face societal controversies when one graduates and becomes a professional. Perhaps that is what the university president meant to say. We don't know. What we know are a very few words, again, taken out of context. Not a good look.
Just like the student didn't seem to know the rules of the game of college classroom, so the politician didn't seem to know the rules of the game about college administration. The college president has no control, or shouldn't, over the teaching in the classroom.  We already had ongoing controversies about academic freedom and tenure. The politician who started this might indeed know the game of political "gotcha" with regard to media. That is not how we want to controvert issues, not how we want to be lead, and certainly not the kind of character we want to govern.
    Let's get into it.

  • Labeling – Children Live up to What Their Teachers Think of Them
    Labeling Understood in Social Science
Labeling is a long standing theory in social sciences which basically says that people (and especially children) live up -- or down-- to what the people (especially the authority figures) around them think about them. A child who is told and expected to be smart, pretty, or competent generally is. A child who is told that she is a slut or he is a dumbass -- usually ends up acting that way.
Teachers should know this. It should be in their curricula in college. It certainly is in Introductory Sociology and in Pyschology courses. Why then to teachers demonstrate and live out labeling theory instead of apply the wisdom from knowing about it?
    What I've Seen
When I was in graduate school in the 1990s, the one Sociological paper about Learning Disabilities found that teachers thought LD was Mental Retardation. When I substituted in 2006, I certainly saw this play out. Teachers treated any "special needs" student with contempt and extraordinarily low expectations. My short time in the class could turn the situation around -- but I doubt permanent change would remain.
When I was Academic Dean, I saw teachers make bright student's life hell because of teacher gossip. When the student is a 7 year old, too bright for the class, and yet bedevilled by negative fantasies of the teacher.... it is exasperating. I was in the classroom. I saw it.
I was not in the classroom of my daughter's third grade classroom, but the mother of another student let me know that the teacher there used bullying and name-calling regularly in the classroom. We are talking about the 1980s. In front of me, even, the teacher declared that my daughter could not read. But when the teacher turned her back, my daughter turned to the back of the book and read the page fine.
One shudders to consider how labeling is working in today's hyper-sexualized, extremely disrespectful environment.
    Hear the Episode
Let's consider labeling. It has detrimental effects. Unfortunately, we see these more often with students with diagnoses and learning problems.
It could have good effects. If only....

  • Autism and Vaccine Combinations – 2009 Interview with Dr. Andrew Wakefield Autism and Vaccine Combinations - 2009 Interview with Dr. Andrew Wakefield
INTERVIEW W DR. ANDREW WAKEFIELD, LEADER IN VACCINE RESEARCH
We are here re-broadcasting our interview with Andrew Wakefield in January 2009. We were very grateful and fortunate to get this world class researcher to come to the radio station, even then a controversial figure. He was world class published medical gastroenterologist researcher long before he started listening to mothers and starting looking into the vaccine/autism connection.  Then, he was smeared, lied about, attacked professionally. They took his medical license!
When he visited with me, he was shaking his head and sad and surprised at the persecution he was getting. You hear that he was measured and just asked for safety research, particularly about vaccines being given together, and untested.
Since then, he created a clinic in Austin to help autistic children -- through chelation, meaning they are purging their system from heavy metals. Since then, he has been in the media, warning about safety problems, particularly around vaccines. We have given some of those links a few years ago.
NOW KNOWN WIDELY THAT VAX COMBO PLUS TYLENOL IS DANGEROUS
This week, President Trump and Secretary Kennedy have announced the difficulty of combo vaccines, especially with Tylenol, because all reduce glutathione. (This manifests in being unable to digest casein and gluten and that is why a gastroenterologist was called to research.)
Strangely, some people, to spite President Trump, have poisoned themselves taking too much Tylenol. Some are now seriously ill, in hospital with damaged livers.
Others have asked in dismay why their doctor told them that Tylenol was safe. Well, the answer is that medical doctors do not study either medicines nor nutrition; they merely pass on what they are told. And pharma companies both push certain drugs and give .... some inducements.
Please notice that alternative pain medication similarly has dangerous limits. Aspirin is associated with Rye's syndrome for children and teens.  Ten days with only 2 a day (of which 2 painkillers?) can harm the heart. I read this in Life Extension, and brought it do a wellness profession, who agreed. I remember an MD who suggested I should take as many as I want (of what?), even 7 a day for my whole period (7 days) and I did. One day, I vomited at work -- whether from pain or from too much painkiller, I don't know. I still hurt and clearly all that was not helping. Then, shortly after that, I discovered that Mexican women often took cinnamon tea for cramps. That worked for me. (The explanation was it dissolved clots.) I have not found a doctor to confirm this, but this was my experience. Cinnamon tea is a lot less dangerous that too much aspirin, acetaminophen, and ibubrofen.
WATCH OUT FOR ACETAMINOPHEN IN OTHER PRODUCTS
Now, please notice that acetaminophen is the substance; Tylenol is just the most recognized brand. Acetaminophen is in many many other products. CHECK THE LABEL. You will find it in Alka-seltzer, some Nyquils, Advil, and 500 other products. Also I see that Percocet, which is a prescription medicine, has acetaminophen.
I may have told you the time that a doctor gave my baby 2 prescriptions, which I told the pharmacist not to fill entirely. Too much, I said. He said, "O no, I would never give both of these to your baby." She might not have woken up!  Good thing that was before pharm techs existed!
So YOU, read the label, and consult THE PHARMACISTS.
THINK ABOUT WHERE YOU GET YOUR INFORMATION
Now, please let me point out our impressive "told you so rights." If you had listened to The Great Shalom back in 2009, you would have known. Back when some woman was complaining about Wakefield, saying "how many children he has harmed [for getting them not to take their vaccines]" you would have seen me ask, "Exactly how does a researcher, looking into safety, "hurt children"? She had nothing more to say. Remember, uninformed people tend to speak the most and the loudest.
Often, years later, when what I have been saying has been proven, people don't remember. They do remember their disdain for my stupidity. And when the situation is pointed out, they often say "No one could have known."  When, clearly, I had. And I could have cited my sources. But they didn't have the cognitive ability to ask or the character to listen.
Now, I do try to speak in an understandable way. I understand the strength and limitations of peer reviewed studied. Do you want to hear about that? I doubt it. I just want to reach out to mothers. I want to help you help your children. It was such a  big deal that I took the initiative to get Dr. Wakefield to come the a radio station to talk to me.

  • Can We Handle His/Her Learning Disability in Homeschool?
Should we take our child out of government school? Oh my gosh yes! What are you waiting for?
Can we handle his/her learning disability? Oh my gosh, yes! Let's break it down.
How well are things going now? What is the best solution to your child's learning problem? Can't that be remedied at home better than at school?
What is a learning disability, anyway? How has that language shifted the conversation?
    Let's talk.

by the way, The Home School Legal Defense Association was founded by lawyer parents who saw a need for their own children to be homeschooled, and realized that other parents needed their legal help . Here is their website : https://hslda.org/

  • Contend in Prayer
"Contend in Prayer" is an old American way of talking about earnestly praying, for changing situations. Praying so hard that it is like fighting. Indeed, is it about fighting in the Spirit.
We want to pray for our children. We want to pray for our nation. So often we are so discouraged and so mesmerized that we have a hard time to pray powerfully. Sometimes we don't know how.
Let's think about contending in prayer.

  • Testimonies of Miraculous Healings – Betty and Melanie
Some dear friends from church came to the radio station. I threatened them not to rave about me -- and they dutifully did not. LOL it was a great time.
More importantly, however, you see how ordinary people get healed.
I hope their testimonies encourage you. We need healing, body soul and spirit everywhere these days. That is okay; because that is God's job. Just call out,: "Help!"

  • Giving Comfort and the Comfort of Giving
I, like so many others, have been out volunteering to help the victims of the floods. Our hearts go out. Our diligence and vigilance needs to go out. The cause of devastation is partly or entirely the fault of government. The lack of response is also continuing lack or nefarious action of government. The help both in the Kerrville/Hunt area and the Sandy Creek/Round Mountain areas have been done by volunteers. Unthanked and increasingly restrained.
Something great happened, however, and that is what I will tell you about. Elizabeth King brought weighted teddy bears to comfort victims. Let's consider that.

  • Dr. Ted Edwards Talks to us about Forgiveness as Vital to Healing
Back when we were on the radio, Dr. Ted Edwards, MD, well known in Austin as a leading physician regarding female hormones and longevity. What is also true is that he was an active Baptist layman. Told me a story about testifying to his (tall steeple) pastor while on a leisure walk.
Today, he talks about forgiveness and the important of such in healing. Holding onto resentment causes people to not heal up. Even can make disease come back.
Not about making sin okay, but about giving it to God, so that we don't keep hurting. In Greek "forgiveness" is from aphesis, which can be translated either as "remittance of sin" and as "letting it go"   A friend says, "giving it to God."  That is like "rolling your cares onto Jesus."
I notice that Dave Asprey on his podcast with Dr. Caroline Leaf said his idea of forgiveness is like choosing not to be quantumly entangled.
    Enjoy. Be free.
