In the age of the comic book movie and the utter domination of franchises, are movie stars still “The Greatest Box Office Draw”? We discuss whether the movie star is going out of vogue OR are there just more types of actors considered “stars” these days. With the myriad ways people can get famous these days, does that threaten the craft of acting? Are movie stars even the best examples of good acting? Is that truly what most of them are there for? Is typecasting still even a thing? Questions abound in this star-spanning episode as we discuss everything from the history of movie stars to their present state. We then theorize about what movie stardom might mean in the far-flung future of VR, deep fakes, and beyond. We also touch on recent comments from the likes of Quentin Tarantino and share our thoughts on why he’s so upset about “the death of the movie star.” And last things last, we read another five-star review!!!  So get in there and enjoy! In this episode dubbed, “The Greatest Pod on Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever” we discuss and debate the film. But this episode is also an examination of how fans perceive super hyped and pivotal pieces of comic book entertainment. They can’t just be stand-alone pieces of entertainment and satisfying by their own standards.  No, now each comic book movie is supposed to advance its main narrative while also planting seeds for future stories and weaving important sections of a grand tapestry we’ll be able to see later. But for now, all across a reactionary internet the neckbeards and the culture warriors have to have their say about its relative “wokeness” for good or ill. The hardcore “comics theorists” must swoop in to decide whether or not they are mad that the story wasn’t based on their favorite five comics or the fan fic they’ve been working on for years.  And all of a sudden it’s not “just a movie” anymore. Well here it’s a goddang movie and this is what we had to say about it and how it may set up a new status quo in the MCU.

There are superheroes who fly through the sky, run fast enough to time travel and save the world on a daily basis. These are not them. This is “The Greatest Comic Book Movies By Decade Part 2”. We discussed everything from 2000 to 2009. From Unbreakable and X-Men to The Dark Knight and Iron Man. This was the decade when comic book flicks shifted into overdrive. The progression of the comic book movie was almost exponential after 2000 and even small graphic novels started being made into truly great movies.
