Pierre is one of the world's most naturally dynamic wave riders, but he ate noodles in the ghetto with all of us, hungry to wrestle a profile for himself and the rare ability to dream large. This ep is reflective for Pierre, and emotional for us both, as we remember our email exchange in September 2006 (Pierre, 16 and clawing in on his future - myself having filmed The Road months earlier, wounds fresh & due to be married in 2 months):

Pierre wrote:
“I realy want you to consider this email, I need for my future to choose a way, I realy respect the way and how you live with bodyboardi ng, for my next trip in Australia, i would like to stay with you because i want t o choose the same way than you”

My response:
“Can you do a job 4 me: Please write an in depth plan for the next 2 years of your life - also include a separate list of things you wanna persue in your life, and prioritise them 1 - 20. NOTE: Think well about number 1”

And look what PLC managed to make of this passion. Hands down the most unstoppable competitive bodyboarder, maybe ever. Engaged father, committed husband and the sincere respect of most nuanced global riders.
