Nicknamed the Gainesville Ripper by media, Rolling viscously attacked and murdered 8 people in just under a year. First a family of 3 in Shreveport, Louisiana and then 5 college students in Gainesville, Florida. He has been compared to other notorious serial killers such as Ted Bundy and Dennis Rader a.k.a. BTK.
This episode covers Rolling's early life and upbringing and the murder of the Grissom family.

Our story this week takes us all the way to the former province of Gévaudan in France. Between 1764-1767 people in this area were terrorized by a man-eating creature we now know as The Beast of Gévaudan. It seemed to prefer attacking peasants who already lived very harsh lives and it had a preference for women and children, although it was happy to try and kill anyone that dared cross its path.

On Christmas Day, 1929, Charlie Lawson killed his entire family except for his oldest son. He then took his own life a few hours later.
The murders were committed just a few days after he had taken the family into town for brand-new outfits and to have their photos taken for the first, and last, time.

Eben Byers was born into money, was well-educated, and was successful, and the ladies loved him. His life couldn’t have been going any better. Eben was prescribed Radithor by his doctor after an accident left him with chronic pain. A substance that was considered by many to be an energy drink or “cure all” to their various ailments. He felt like a whole new man after consuming high amounts of Radithor over a period of years. That is until his jaw began to fall off because Radithor was just radioactive water.
