This true crime case was the (unofficial) inspiration for the opening scene of 2001 film, Jeepers Creepers. Once you learn a little more about the events witnessed by couple Ray and Marie Thornton on Easter Sunday of 1990 in Cold Water, Michigan, it's not hard to see why it inspired a scene from a gruesome horror movie. If you've been on the internet at all lately, you've may have heard the name, Ruby Franke or the name of her family YouTube channel, 8 Passengers. The mother of six from Utah, was arrested on August 30th, 2023 and charged with six felony counts of child abuse. Ruby Franke's business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, was also arrested and charged.
