For 16 years now World Champ Barton Lynch has been running the world’s most fun grom experience. Part coaching seminar, part full-tilt froth out, BL’s Blast Off started off as a friendly and encouraging environment for kids to surf a few heats and improve their surfing without the pressure of hooters and heat scores. Over the years he introduced workshops and talks to help kids at all levels begin to gain a deeper understanding of the positivity that comes with surfing’s  connection to environment, community and culture. Always adaptable BL pushed the Blast Off online when Covid threatened to shut it down and soon he had entries from over 26 countries around the world. This year’s six week championship window is now open and we thought it a good time to catch up with The Stoked Bloke himself to find out what he hopes to instil with the next generation of trimmers, cruisers, shredders, part-timers and world beaters.
