In this episode, I interview Melissa Bishop, a Canadian runner who competed in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. In 2017 her world changed when she discovered she was pregnant. Though excited to grow her family, it launched Melissa into the tension between being an athlete and a mother.
In our conversation, Melissa shares about the joys and challenges of pregnancy as a professional runner, the lessons she learned during her postpartum journey, the discouragement of unexpected injuries, and the importance of giving your body rest.
We also dispel some popular myths about being a mom and an athlete. Melissa is making her third Olympic appearance in Tokyo. Motherhood has changed her pace, but she’s still running strong!
