Don’t get hung up on perfectionism.

Today we hear from a caller who has a question about answering the phone and hiring someone to do it for them. Is there a way to do this? Or having someone answer the phones for me while I’m at my day job? I need the space and help with this so I can get a little bit more room to make the switch from my full-time day job to my service business!

Think about it like this. Does making this decision get you closer or further away from your why, your mountaintop? Even if it’s not perfect, even if it’s messy. Sometimes you just have to do it.

Improving is better than nothing. Move from chaos to less chaos and that’s progress!

Episode 191:  Questions From Callers – Session 2 (Hiring An Office Manager and Doing Hard Things)

A lot of people will relate to the questions from today!

Chris Heffernan owns a window cleaning, power washing and gutter cleaning business. Last year was his 3rd year in business.

Last year they did gross revenue of around $240,000. Currently, Chris can go on vacation for 1-2 weeks and things are okay. But now, he needs an office manager or receptionist. He does everything himself, the calls, the estimates, etc. It’s time for him to get someone else to start taking some of this stuff off of his plate but doesn’t know where to start.

Get over the fact that it’s going to be hard.

You can’t scale unless you have someone in the mothership (office).

This is the main hub of your business. Picking the right person is SUPER important. You need someone that is really over the top friendly in their normal life. They must have a great attitude and voice inflection.

Episode 190: Questions From Callers – Session 1 (Coffee and Class A Buildings)

Today we answer 2 different questions!

The first comes from a guy who wants to start a mobile coffee shop! He doesn’t have a service company yet, but has been listening for a year!

If you look at any service company, there are certain attributes that they share. If you look at Apple, they are so different. They marketed themselves in such a way that was different than others.

Nate currently works for a large corporation and wants to start a coffee truck, working full time with multiple trucks and potentially turning them into brick & mortar shops! They are starting in May!! So, how do I do this and stop working for the corporation in the next 10 years? How can I build this business outside of normal working hours and automate it enough so it can grow exponentially?

Episode 189:  Wake Up To The Coming Changes Or Be Left Behind

Half the service companies in this country are asleep at the wheel.

You need to make time for yourself to think. Thinking is the most profitable activity you can do.

The landscape of marketing has changed so much, it’s hard to keep up sometimes. Things have adapted and evolved and you need to too!

Things move really quick.

New algorithms, videos, and so much more. Thinking is where all the magic happens. It’s all about how you do things, the processes, how you talk to your customers, etc. Just stop and think about these things. Stop devaluing the time you DO have to think by vegging out in Netflix or doing other mindless activities. You are wasting your valuable time you DO have to think.

Getting good at making videos, podcasts, or anything, it comes by doing it. Things come with experience. If you started making videos, it would help you as a person, tremendously. You will become a better speaker if nothing else.

Raise your prices. It isn’t unicorn magic fairy dust. People just aren’t getting it.

We all know lots of things that we don’t actually implement, apply or do. We feel good about ourselves because we know there are things we need to do, but knowing and executing are NOT the same thing. Start executing the things to get where we want to be. Sometimes you “think” you are already pricing where you can, but I PROMISE you are wrong.

You have self-limiting beliefs. Stop looking at other companies.

Stop trying to be the same. You are commoditizing yourself.

It’s easier to scale your business when you have high margins. You need to be patient.  Stop taking so much money for yourself.

It costs money to scale your business. You have to pay to acquire customers.

Episode 187: Stop Speaking Techno-Babble To Your Clients!

Today I wanna talk about Techno-Babble.

I remember when I had my service company in the early days before it was successful, ironically, whenever you try to simplify anything, it’s actually really complex and hard to get it simple.

When it comes to selling, confuse people don’t buy stuff. They don’t! People need clarity and simplicity.

Even if you’re lawn mowing company, if your pitch is set up the wrong way where it’s really heavy and technical, it doesn’t help you but it hurts you.

How do I make people get understand and get excited about my business?

Customers vote with their wallet. If you’re authentically providing massive value, then you’ll make a lot of money as a natural byproduct of that.

BUT!!! You have to clearly articulate the value to the person without speaking techno-babble.
