We use many tools and instruments in the clinical setting to measure the extent of dental disease. The PSR probe is an example of a dental instrument that helps a clinician quickly and easily make a determination of the presence of health or disease during the screening process. The PSR will help the clinician determine if there is a need for a comprehensive evaluation. It is also used in several dental index models.

Coronal polishing has been seen as the core of the prophylaxis by most of the population for decades. Those of us in the field are aware of this misconception. As providers driven to practice following the evidence, I have asked myself many times. Why are we still polishing? In this episode I will share my journey on coronal polishing as well as the struggle to increase awareness and understanding of the reasons why we shouldn’t polish our patients teeth. Airflow technology has provided us with a safe and effective alternative to polishing that makes sense to both clinicians and patients. We have finally found the answer we were looking for all this time. It’s time to lay down that hand piece and get moving on airflow.
