This special two-part episode holds a huge place in my heart, as it touches upon a deeply personal aspect of my life and the lives of my friends. See the invisible generational trauma of growing up Asian in America and the challenge of toggling between two different cultures.
Together, we share thirty heartfelt, honest, and poignant narratives that capture the essence of the Asian American experience. From the pain of generational trauma to the resilience that fuels our hope, our stories are woven together into a rich tapestry of shared history and individual journeys.
I'm extremely fortunate to be joined by Kristina and Shaun Dela Cruz, my close friends, Victor Nguyenbui, whom I met through dance, and Thuy Dam, a fellow spiritual client. In our candid conversation, they courageously peel back the layers of their lives, revealing the unspoken challenges of growing up with traditional Asian parents in the United States, a Western society.
We shed tears and share laughter as we delve into the intricate layers of cultural identity, the often unseen struggles of growing up in our household, and the lasting impact of these formative years on our adult selves.
By coming together and bearing our souls, we hope to illuminate the layers of hidden struggles and triumphs that define our experiences as Asian Americans.
This episode is a testament to the power of shared stories and the healing that can occur when we feel less alone in our journeys.
It's an episode I'm extremely proud of, and I'm excited to share it with you. You won't want to miss out on this deep and moving conversation.
