As we continue to learn the steps necessary to recovery we get deeper into our need to surrender. Daniel teaches us part of our recovery is submitting our will and plan for our lives to the will of God and his plan for our lives.

We have begun a new 12 part sermon series that will take us through the 12 steps common to the Alcoholics Annonymous program, but with a twist. Instead of focusing on an addition to alcohol, we will be applying the steps to our addiction to sin. Listen in to find out what our first step to recovery from sin is.

It is the beginning of the year and time for our annual family meeting. Family meeting is the Sunday when we recap the last year’s activities and share about all the different things God has done in the year. In our meeting, Daniel also shares with us the vision and goal for the church in 2015.

Living a life that is pleasing to God often feels frustrating because we are constantly battling against our sinful nature. No matter how hard we try, sin is always present. Daniel better explains this constant battle we face; and how we are saved, and capable of overcoming this everyday struggle.

The new year is approaching which means people will soon be deciding their new year’s resolutions. We typically make resolutions about losing weight or things of that nature, but rarely put thought into what resolutions God wants us to make. It’s Christmas Eve and we have a special guest, Elliott May, with us today to teach us how special of a day it is. Its often easy for us to go through Christmas Eve enjoying the different wonderful things that come along with the holiday without putting enough thought on how special of a day it truly is. Today is the last day of advent before Christmas eve so it is only fitting that we would learn about Mary. Daniel helps us understand who Mary was and what life was like for her at that time in history. Also, the lesson we can learn from the example she has set for us as believers.

We all know of the Shepherds from the Christmas story, but the majority of us don’t really know much of what it was like to be a shepherd in those days. This week Daniel gives us a clear understanding about the reputation Shepherds had in that day and how God used their example as a way to encourage all believers.

Joseph isn’t a very well known person in the bible, but he is vital in the story of Jesus’s birth. Despite never actually having any recorded words spoken by Joseph, there are some things we can learn from him by what little is mentioned. Daniel shared with us what we can learn from Joseph and how we can apply it to our lives.
