There is a long list of circumstances during motherhood that naturally isolate us or cause us to isolate ourselves – health problems, busyness with babies and toddlers or teens, food allergies, marriage or financial stress… The reality is that isolation can make those problems even worse, because we end up bearing the weight of them alone. But our Creator didn’t intend for us to do this life alone. We’re talking today about moms needing other moms. What do you think? Are you in a community of women who support each other?

Women are Scary: The Totally Awkward Adventure of Finding Mom Friends – Let’s see…this is the part where I convince you that you need this book. This book will massage your feet. This book will bring you a fuzzy blanket at the end of a long day of parenting your tiny little insanazoids. I promise to make you snort laugh at least once. After reading this book, you’ll rock jazz hands, be able to sing on-key, and never, ever have to fold laundry again.
Okay, they told me I’m actually supposed to tell you a little about the book. Um, right. Look. Here’s the thing. Too many of us women are frazzled and lonely, isolated in our minivans while schlepping bags, strollers, and munchkins to and fro across town. It doesn’t have to be this way.
In this guide to “momlationships,” I use a dating analogy to take us “around the bases” to our home-run friendships, the ones that last a lifetime, not just a soccer season. This is our journey to each other, to finding our people and being other people’s people, to learning how to bless each other and not destroy each other.
It’s sometimes scary. And always awkward. Let’s have some fun.
Heart Sisters: Be the Friend You Want to Have – Friendships with other women are as important to our mental, physical, and spiritual health as rest, exercise, and prayer. We don’t just want friends—we need friends. Yet sometimes they can be as difficult as singing a song without the lyrics.
If you’ve ever been hurt by a friend, struggled to balance friendship with everyday life, or seen a friendship end too early, Heart Sisters will help you:
– Overcome your fear of being hurt by other women,
– Practically examine issues so you can work your way through conflicts,
– Recognize when it’s time to establish healthy—and holy—boundaries,
– Get right with God so you can get right with others, and
– Discover the secret to authentic friendships.
With discussion questions and real-life examples, Heart Sisters will help you be the friend you want to have.
