Carey DuVal is a Retired Army Captain, Combat Veteran, CrossFit Coach, Yoga Teacher, Personal Trainer, Champion Adaptive Athlete, Prosthetics designer, and general health enthusiast. Carey is dedicated to helping others and works with multiple charity teams to compete and speak at events around the country on adaptive athletics and Veteran's affairs. He has acted as a consultant for prosthetics development and government-funded medical research.
In this episode we discuss Carey's experience surviving a Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) in Iraq in 2014 in which he suffered multiple injuries and ultimately the loss of his right hand. Carey's lessons in mindset and general outlook on life are a true inspiration to all. Through his actions and continued pursuit of success, we are reminded that we have the uncanny ability to adapt and overcome circumstance so long as we are willing to learn, work, and not allow initial failure to prevent us from achieving our goals.
