Welcome, listeners! Join me, Lisa Toth, as we venture through the Hidden Workforce, a show about the positive impact people who live with different abilities bring to the workforce and our world.
We have a triple force this weekend as we hear from self-advocates, a direct support worker, and an advocate running for an Oklahoma State Representative seat!
First, we have our friend Kelsey O'Halloran as she joins us this week to tell us about her journey to independence as a woman living with Williams Syndrome. Kelsey chats with us about her adventures going to Oklahoma People First meetings with her Uncle Steve, all about her work, and why she believes everybody should get out and vote.
Then we continue to celebrate Direct Support Professionals with Audrey Gilliland, a Direct Support Professional for over 15 years with Rise Staffing. Audrey and her long-time friend and client Susan Barefoot join us to chat about the fun they've had over the years and why Susan loves and has stayed in the Direct Support profession for her career.
Lastly, we have another special guest on this week's episode, Ellyn Hefner Oklahoma House Candidate for District 87. Ellyn is a mother as well as a disability advocate and shares how her years as an advocate have prepared her to represent in the Oklahoma legislature. Ellyn has immersed herself in her district, heard their concerns as well as their ideas, and is ready to lead their voice within the Oklahoma House of Representatives.
