Heading into the summer of tennis in Australia, things are about to get busy for Tom Mabon.
Recently promoted to the senior role of physical performance coach (professional men's) at Tennis Australia, it's Tom's responsibility to make sure Australia's best male tennis players are in peak condition for the Australian Open and the tennis season ahead.
Tom talks about the 'cut throat' world of strength and conditioning, where he was turned down for countless internships before finally getting a foot in the door - leaving a high paid insurance position in Sydney for an unpaid role with Tennis SA in Adelaide. But the risk would pay off - five years later, Tom is now running the physical performance program.

Andy Warr picked up the phone at 5am. Before he knew it, he was packing up his life to move from the UK to Australia to join the Australian Institute of Sport.
It was a long way from from his background as an engineer who primarily focused on motorsports. But now, as performance systems manager for AIS and Cycling Australia, he gets much more satisfaction working with two wheels and the athletes who power them.

James Begley is the founder of sports talent marketplace PickStar, a leadership consultant and former AFL footballer.
James was drafted to St Kilda before moving back home to play with Adelaide in the AFL, playing 61 games before his career was cut short by injuries.
Not wanting a 'real job', James backpacked around the world before deciding to pursue leadership development. Troy de Haas knows sport from all angles, first as an athlete and now in the business of sport.
Troy is the Head of Sport at cycling manufacturing giant BMC Switzerland and runs his own sports sponsorship and marketing company, TDH Group.
But Troy’s journey started on the trails as a runner. He was the first non-European to win a medal at international level in the sport of orienteering and achieved Australia’s best result at a Senior World Orienteering Championships, placing seventh in 2006.
