  • Eat McDonald's every day and lose weight? HTPodcast #27 featuring Oisin Mulligan

    You read the title correct.

Oisin (who is a personal trainer from Athlone) undertook the challenge of eating McDonald's every day for 14 days in the hope of losing weight, which he did.

The podcast is more than just about him eating McNuggets, we get stuck into fat loss as a whole and discuss whether we feel like we need to look a certain way in order to get clients.

Do we need to look a certain way? Does that influence your perception of a coach?

16 time county champ, 3 time All-Ireland club champ, 4 Ulster's with Armagh, an International Rules win in 2008 and the list goes on.

But we don't just want to hear about the wins, we want to know how a small town like Crossmaglen became the golden standard of club football in Armagh, Ulster and all of Ireland at one stage.

"Doing the simple things right" sprung up a few times in this conversation, but check out the full episode for yourself on your streaming platform of choice our kid.

    He got a big ego"

How could I not quote Queen Bey for this one?

@jayne_realnutrition and I go down the rabbit hole on all things ego and crack down on misconceptions and pitfalls.

We discuss how ego can impact your body image, drinking and eating habits (around Christmas especially) and the impact mindfulness and gratitude has had on both our lives.

  • "Fire your bro split in the bin" - Ep. 21 w/Joel Dowey

Let's pretend it's Monday and I got this uploaded on time...

A lot of us are returning (or have returned) back to the gym and this episodes packs a punch for those of you who want to step your training game up for the run into 2021.

I had the pleasure of chatting with @joeldowey about all things coaching and training. We get into how to choose the right coach, selecting the right exercises for you to get the most bang for your buck and why doing 1 body part per day is not an efficient way to train for those who aren't competing for Mr Olympia.

As we ramble in and out of the topic of training we also discuss which of the mighty Metallica albums is their greatest (let me know which one you think it is).

You'll find this episode on Spotify, Apple podcasts, Youtube or anywhere else you listen to podcasts.

Just like local businesses depend on reviews we too depend on rating on reviews over on Apple podcasts. I don't get paid for this, I don't have sponsors (as of yet) but the benefit of that is that I can talk about whatever I want and ask on whoever I want. If you enjoy it and want me to keep making more, take 2 minutes out of your day to give the podcast a review and help spread this podcast to more people!

  • Ep 18 - Greek Myths - Narcissus, Narcissists and Stoicism ft. Orla Swan

    “People don't change.'

'People change entirely,' I said. 'Look at Narcissus. He became a flower. I call that change.”
    ― Kamila Shamsie

If you enjoy Greek Mythology this is your jam.

If you've had dealings with narcissistic people in the past, this is most definitely your jam spread all over a freshly baked cherry scone.

I was joined by Orla Swan (@thehealthhun) in this Hellenistic escapade over a couple of drinks and we did as was expected, ramble and wax lyrical about our life experiences and thoughts on the crazy epicness that is Greek Mythology.

Yes I know "epicness" is not a word but it fucking is now :)

We also shoveled our way through narcissism and narcissistic traits of which most of us have our fair share of.

This is a step in the direction that I want this podcast to go; less formal and more conversational with more of a focus on the questions that keep me up late at night.

Like "who the fuck thought that some chap turned into a daffodil after staring at his reflection in a lake?"

Fitness is important, but Greek Mythology is important-er.

Open Pandora's box and get stuck in to the story's that still influence our world today.
