  • Healing for eating disorders: an integrative approach

Eating disorders are very complex and as such, the treatment needs to be curated and unique to each individual. Kate Horsman is a highly experienced Integrative Practitioner who specializes in Women's Health, Body Image/Eating Disorders, Mental Health, and Intuitive Healthcare; merging counseling, nutrition, mindfulness, and breathwork into her practice. In this episode with hosts Carolyn Plater and Stephanie Kersta, she explains that like with all therapy, it's never one size fits all, but with eating disorders, there are so many comorbidities such as trauma addiction, anxiety, or mood disorders, as well as the social pressure... which means the treatment must take into account the interplay of all of these factors, including food and the larger role it plays. This means not only cultivating a healthy relationship with food but also recognizing the nourishing role that it can play in our physical and mental well-being. Listen to this incredibly candid episode to hear Kate's passion for supporting individuals through brave conversations, including her own courageous recovery.

Lindsay Fauntleroy is an acupuncturist, integrative counselor, educator, thought leader, and expert in flower essence therapy. She started her journey into holistic wellness while on her own healing path. She found herself in her early twenties and in menopause, being told she could not conceive on her own-- a devastating revelation. That's when she found Bach flower remedies in her sister-in-law's cabinet. She started mixing some tinctures and when Lindsay gave them a try, she started to feel better. From there, the pathways to healing started to open up for her; she then began doing acupuncture and felt a connection to spirituality. Through prayer, meditation, and ritual, she was able to regain control of her life. Listen to this episode to hear Lindsay talk to hosts Steph and Carolyn about falling in love with the magic of another way of thinking about our body, and how body and mind are closely interconnected.
