Dan Lane from Rental Income Podcast helps people learn how to generate passive income and build long-term wealth through rental properties.

Every week on the Rental Income Podcast, Dan interviews an inspiring landlord to hear their story and to learn how they built their rental portfolio.

Here is a little about his story:

Dan has always wanted to buy rental properties, but wasn't sure how to get started. In 2014, Dan and his wife bought a new house and decided to turn the old house into a rental.

After he got his first rent check, he had a few hundred bucks left over ... even after he paid the mortgage. At that point, Dan was hooked!

Dan wanted to buy more rentals, and generate more passive income, but had so many questions about how to do it.

Everyone he knew told him that rentals are a nightmare and that he shouldn't get involved with them.

But, Dan knew that there had to be successful landlords out there. And that is where he decided that he would connect with them.

Dan wanted to hear directly from the successful people.

Dan wanted to hear how they got started, how they grew their portfolio, and what they were doing to make things work.

After countless hours of searching online, Dan still couldn't find the information that he was looking for online, so he created the Rental Income Podcast.

Dan was thinking that if he was looking for this information, maybe other people were too.

Dan started the Rental Income Podcast, and began interviewing rental property investors to figure out their secrets.

Four years later, Dan has interviewed over 180 landlords and have added 6 more rental properties to his rental portfolio, using the information and strategies that he has learned on the podcast.

Allan has been in in-home sales, where he meets people in their homes to sell sun homes, roofing, siding, etc. for their homes. Over the years, he has developed his own sales philosophy, and has become the top sales people in the company for 10 years in a row.

Allan wrote a book about sales and quickly became a best selling author!

Allan currently works for a window and door company to in-home sales and is completely fulfilled!

- You’re typically taught a sales process, and you basically become a sales robot by following a pitch. The pitch doesn’t work anymore!

- People want to do business with people they know, like, and trust. There is a way to approach and deal with a customer with a pitch that makes them want to buy it, not run from you!

Too many sales reps spend way too much time on things people don’t want to hear. If you have 15 facts, and to your customer, only 2 are important, you need to only talk about those 2 points!

Having a marketing agency is extremely difficult. Dealing with contractors, clients, and a bunch of competition. There are hundreds of new agencies popping up every single day, yet Chris says there is still huge potential.

Chris has been doing entrepreneurial ventures for all his life, having most success with his latest venture, OMG Commerce.

Chris has ran multiple businesses and side hustles before OMG Commerce, starting with his sales hustle. He ended up in Missouri selling billboard advertising to businesses. During this time, he came up with an idea to sell other people’s billboards too. He started to do this, and his boss told him to stop cause it was an accounting nightmare, so he did it on his own, under his own corporation. With that experience, he learned how to create a website and all the basics of business. He finally sold it for $2 million.

After that, he went to work for a golf magazine, and then a friend told him to start the first full colour coupon magazine, and started and grew that till he sold it.

During that, he started a carpet company, which was a complete failure. He closed that down in less than a year and lost $30,000.

Now, his fourth and most successful business, Chris started OMG Commerce.

Jeremy has a few side hustles going, currently has a blog called “3 Hour Flip”, podcast called Pick the Brain and another called The Aworkening, which talks a lot about what we talk about here at Hobby Hustler!

Jeremy grew up with parents and grandparents who told him to go to school, get a degree, come out and get a job. Straight out of high school he started sharpening knives, the job paid $12/hour job, which was amazing at the time. His parents told him it was good, to stay there and work his way up.

He got introduced to Dave Ramsey, a financial guru and podcasters. He was talking about being intentional with your life and finances, don’t just deal with what happens to you as it happens to you.

He then found Dan Miller’s podcast, where he was talking about side hustle ideas. Dan’s podcast was the one that ignited Jeremy to start a few of his own side hustles.
