The Honesty Policy Hour episodes

  • 009 Stacey McCaa | Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.

Stacey McCaa, a mother of two gorgeous babies 5-year-old Nelson and 3yr old Abigail who has been diagnosed with a form of uncontrollable epilepsy called Dravet syndrome.

Stacey is a home schooling mama, entrepreneur, wife, lover of life and a fierce advocate.

Stacey’s daughter started having uncontrollable seizures from the age of 3 months, where her world began to seize as she knew it. So much anxiety, so much fear about the future, so much grief to deal with left her riddled with nausea and a shell of her old vibrant self.

Stacey has worked tirelessly to come to a place of acceptance and peace.

This is a little insight into what it looks like to have to advocate so fiercely for your children and what Epilepsy families go through on a daily basis.

Over 12,000 people per year in Australia are diagnosed with epilepsy and it doesn’t just affect them, but their entire family.

Her story is definitely a shape shifter. Where life transformed her and her family. Just one of those monumental defining moments where you chose to sink or swim, and Stacey definitely swam.

The purpose of this episode is to shine light on the strength and determination Stacey had to help her daughter. She tapped into her intuition and listened to her mama instincts every step of the way. When it comes to your child's illness whatever it may be small or big, it's important to remember that knowledge is power and when you can control your mind frame using the tools that work for you, you are able to think clearly and allow the intuitive voice to speak loudly.

Let’s shine a spotlight on epilepsy as it is so underfunded and so in need of a cure.

  • 006 Courtney Spiteri | The 'V' Word

    TW // SIDS, MISCARRIAGES.
This episode comes with a trigger warning.
THIS EPISODE CONTAINS COVERSATION AROUND SIDS AND MISCARRIAGES

Courtney Spiteri is a recently proclaimed Sunshine Coast mama to two beautiful earth boys, who has traded the busy city life for country peace.

She has a background in health sciences, including Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychology, and has been using her research skills to explore the new world of motherhood in order to give her children the healthiest, grounded and most natural start to life.

Courtney believes that motherhood is a sacred rite of passage and an ever-evolving journey.

"Motherhood gives us a different lens to life, it allows us to zoom out, look in, and reassess everything we thought we knew in order to give our little people what’s best and most important for them to thrive. We have access to endless information now, so much so that following the status quo is no longer the only option. As uncomfortable, confronting and scary as it might be, it’s important as mothers that we tune in to our own intuition and use it to guide us in raising our children in the most authentic way possible."

This episode is all about an incredibly controversial subject.

    Vaccinations and the children's schedules.

This is a seriously raw, honest and open conversation about our journey and why we decided to decline the schedule.

    This is NOT medical advice!

This is NOT a time to convince you to steer away from them.

    This is just our story.

I hold utmost respect for every parent doing what's best for their child/children.
