MERRY CHRISTMAS! For our last episode of the year we're going big: Tim Burton origins, the advent of the Disney Renaissance, and early 2000's goth culture as we bring you Tim Burton's THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, directed by Henry Selick. 

Anthony and Alix dive deep into the Burton's early days as a Disney animator, his eventual ousting and rise through Hollywood, and how such a rise allowed him to turn a three page poem into a Disney (initially Touchstone) classic. There's also plenty of discussion on childhood nostalgia, and Alix's hot topic purchases. It's a big one!

Oh boy, this one is weird. Join Anthony and Alix as they drink away their problems and go back to aliens this week with The Fourth Kind from 2009! In a mix of documentary and reenactment style film, horrible acting (except for one main character who we love), and alien hijinks the likes of which we have never seen. Is it an owl? Is it aliens? Is it real? Is it fake? Who cares because we didn't! This episode was brought to you by $4 wine from Alix's wine cabinet so enjoy the hilarity.

In honor of this joyous holiday, we bring you a surprisingly gruesome Christmas classic - that is if you're a mischievous mogwai. This week the team is taking a look back at this 80s mega hit, and its very humble beginnings with 1984's GREMLINS, directed by Joe Dante.

We follow the Journeys of Chris Columbus and Joe Dante. The former, a small town boy who made it to the big city, only for the real world to nearly send him back (don't give up on your dreams, kids). The latter, a director down to his last dollar and tasked with creating innovative special effects and helping launch a studio. And then there's Steven Spielberg.

The story of the production is almost as adventurous as the film, and you'll hear Anthony and Alix detail it all in this week's episode! Along with the answer to one other question: Does Gizmo have baby Yoda energy? Find out!

Also, how about 5 stars or we start eating after midnight? This will be good for no one!

It's another wonderful Cronenberg Christmas! This year the team went even FURTHER into the extreme side of his filmography as they tackle 1983's cult classic VIDEODROME, staring James Woods. 

Learn about Cronenberg at the peak of his career, and how that level of created freedom birthed one of his most notable films (and a bit of a flop). The team takes a deep look into the special effects magic behind this gruesome societal commentary, and do their best to crack the themes - which oddly stand the test of time. This film also has Betamax in it... BETAMAX. Talk about absurd.

Label this one "Groovy." This week the team continues its journey through Sam Raimi's career with his first return to horror - 1987's EVIL DEAD 2! 

Anthony and Alix pick up right where the first Evil Dead left off, with Raimi's brief foray into acting, and one major flop! But with the death of his career imminent, Raimi resurrected it like a deadite and created this worthy sequel. 

Just how racist was the shooting location for Evil Dead 2? What on-set showdown lead to an event Bruce Campbell referred to as "Our Night of Long Knives?" Don't even get us started on the Henrietta costume.
