What's this? An actual Friday the 13th landing on the same month as Sequel September? Looks like you guys are getting an episode! This week the team covers the not surprisingly haphazard production of Friday the 13th Part II, directed by Steve Miner. 

This week the team explores the "surprise" franchise, and how a seemingly one off film managed to get a sequel that brought us an early version of true horror iconography: Jason Freaking Voorhees. Anthony and Alix tell a story of a pissed off MPAA, a B team with something to prove, and a lesson on why you shouldn't put stunt man on your resume... if you're not actually a stunt man (two actors played Jason).

Our big theme this month is Zombies vs. Aliens and we're kicking it off with one of the films responsible for revitalizing the former: Edgar Wright's 2004 classic SHAUN OF THE DEAD. 

Join the team as they dive into a brief history of zombies in film, the circumstances that allowed Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg to gush over their love of Dawn of the Dead, and how that turned into a VERY successful trilogy based around ice cream flavors. Anthony and Alix also reflect on how the character of Shaun exemplifies growth, and how that adds to the film. There's also plenty of production notes, random gaffes, and plenty of surprisingly few accents!

This week The Horrorble People's Podcast tops off Alix's birthday month with her favorite film OF ALL TIME... It's Jonathan Demme's THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. 
The Team looks at the allusive author Thomas Harris, who created the iconic character of Hannibal Lecter, and how his creation started with an 80's flop and turned into one of the most recognizable characters of all time. The team also talks in depth about the controversy over the Buffalo Bill character, as well as Jodie Foster's harrowing journey trying to get cast in this film. Will they ever bring back the Hannibal TV show? We have no idea, but there is definitely some speculation in this week's episode!

Alix's birthday month continues with one of the most fundamental entries in her favorite genre, and one of the earliest examples of viral marketing. Was it real? Obviously not, but people in the 90's were confused and we're going to talk all about it in this week's episode on THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT.

The team takes you on a journey from the early days of two ambitious directors with an obsession for paranormal 70s documentaries to their ascent through the madness of the Hollywood system (and right back out). Anthony and Alix also look at how the success of the film affected the lives of its cast, as well as the creative filming process behind the whole thing. 

There's also an extended look at other Blair Witch media that would made up the second half of the film, if that woods footage wasn't so great! Get ready for some nostalgic tales of childhood screenings, and a plea to Kevin Smith (it'll make sense, we swear). This IS the Super Mario 64 of found footage films (again, it'll make sense).

Jinkies! A TV-G movie that features a beloved group of childhood characters versus confederate pirate ghosts? It must be 1998's Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island! 

Alix's birthday month gives us our first animated film that doesn't feature murderous bunnys/idols. The team looks at the history of the Scooby-Doo franchise, and what led to the decision to update the characters for Zombie Island. There's is also a ton of nostalgic asides because, well... 1998. Why did Casey Kasum drop out of his role as Shaggy? Just how much does Anthony hate Scrappy-Doo (Spoiler alert: A lot)? What part still stand out as scary? Grab some Scooby Snacks and find out!
