Just like how most people believe they're above-average drivers, most people probably think they're above-average communicators. "I get my point across," they say, "so yeah, I'm a good communicator." But think back to the times when you've worked with someone that you really enjoyed. Think about how they made you feel. A lot of that comes from truly mastering communication, and doing it in a way that bolsters other people, not just "getting the point across."
Join me and Rocky Romanella, Founder of 3SIXTY Management and author of the book Tighten The Lug Nuts, where we talk about our experiences with people who were excellent communicators, what things you can look for to grow in your ability to communicate better, and what things to be mindful of as we communicate.

Probably not lost on many of us that the US is unfortunately the unhealthiest nation on the planet. We seem to be so busy that we can't track and maintain our health properly.
It's gotten to a point where being sick is the norm. We don't have to be barfing or bleeding to have something wrong, but the symptoms that we're not actively fighting, we're actively ignoring or blaming on old age or "just the way life is"
But nothing could be further from the truth.
Dr. Pat Boulogne is the Founder of The Health Team Network, and also the author of "Why... Are You Sick, Fat and Tired?" shared with me that we live in an age where we try to fix symptoms without fixing the underlying problem, and why that's so dangerous for people.

Whether your business is driven by referrals, inbound or outbound contact, most business owners know you kinda need some form of marketing. But if you're just getting started, or are well on your way, you may not have the budget or the manpower to dedicate to a focused effort on that.
Mark Howells, Founder of Dakota Ridge Marketing, understands that problem. That's why he started his business, which he then also markets. It's really meta.
The difference is, rather than focus on just social media or just email campaigns, he and his group apply principles that have measurable results on a company's revenue. That way you know the value you're getting.
If you need to get a handle on your marketing strategy (or if you actually don't have one!) Mark's a great guy to get to know.

Our second try doing this episode lol, we finally got it in the can! I got the chance to talk with Shane Emmons, CTO of TeamSnap about how they were deliberate about getting distributed teams in place by default, well before coronavirus was even a thing.
In this episode, we also cover what makes distributed teams works, and what can bring it crashing down. And it turns out it's not even about the technology.
Do you have what it takes to make it work at your company? Listen in for some tips, along with learning what kinds of oddball sports teams there are, and what Harry Potter house Shane aligns with.

I met Elaine about 3 years ago as she was building out her dream. Her goal is to impact the lives of people by teaching them about the world of software development.
Rather than take the same approach that universities do, the things she and her staff are... wow, actually relevant? There's so much stuff they don't teach with "formal education" that they cover at Savvy Coders.
Listen in to hear more about her journey, challenges and goals, and how she's changing the world, one career at a time.

Many business owners start off building their dream with the intent of being able to sell it. Many of those same owners end up in the weeds later on and forget that was the original goal.
When you stop to think about it though: how do you know when it's time to exit? Is it when the company is on top and making fat bank?
According to Tom Gledhill, Founder of XITPROS, the answer is: you can probably exit sooner than you think.

Brad Cote is the Founder of Link Performance Therapy and Consultant at Preeminent Practice, and in this episode we talk about how building out processes to scale a company doesn't always look the same. The processes that you start with will have to grow and evolve as your company goes through stages.
That should be a comfort to know, because often we might think that once you figure out That Magic Process then you're done. Instead, we should always be looking for ways to change. And that's not a bad thing.

In this episode, I talk with Austin Bollinger, best selling author and host at The Daily New Year's Podcast about goal setting. It's on the mind of all kinds of business owners (and... probably everybody, really). What makes a good goal to shoot for? And how do you start?
And once you have that goal, then rather than using the beginning of the year as the time to start, why not just start now? And why not set a series of small goals?
That really is the key to fostering new habits. If you want lasting change, you don't have to boil the ocean. Just start now, and just start small.

Ever been through a Category 5 hurricane? Me neither. But Christine is. In today's podcast, we talked about how she took her experience going through that, and realizing that we waste a lot of experience on negative things that can really turn to be positive.
Author of The Resilient Leader, she shares a few of the Leadership Barometers that she's noticed over the years, and what it really means to be a true leader during times when fakers will crumple under pressure.
