Today’s episode focuses on the design of virtual humans and animals in virtual worlds. Associate Professor Rachel McDonnell from Trinity College Dublin explores dimensions of virtual human and animal design and how this affects user perceptions. Rachel is a leading voice in the Graphics community, researching human centered issues in virtual agent design. Rachel is a Co-PI and Research Leader in the Science Foundation Ireland ADAPT Centre for human-centered AI.
Again this episode is in two parts with Part 1 focusing on Rachel’s talk, with Part 2 focusing on the chat I had with Rachel where we discuss human-like avatars, the metaverse and the challenges researching in VR.
