It is an honor to have Rick Pollack, President and CEO of the American Hospital Association with us for the first half of this week's show. Rick leads the AHA's efforts to create a sophisticated political and grassroots infrastructure, enabling the hospital advocacy agenda to be effectively communicated before the Congress and federal agencies. Under his leadership, the AHA launched AHAPAC, now one of the largest health care political action committees in the U.S., supporting congressional candidates who support hospitals and patients.

Covid-19 cases are rising in North Texas and the Dallas Ft. Worth Hospital Council and all our North Texas hospitals remind everyone to please do the things we know help reduce the spread of Covid-19: Wear a mask; physical distance at least 6 feet; wash your hands often. Thank you. 

In our first two segments we are joined by John Christoforetti, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon and partner at Allen Orthopedic Sports Medicine at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen. The topic is back-to-school sports and athletic injuries. How to best prevent them and especially if something does happen on the court or field, how to treat the injury. 

In the second half of the show we discuss the “thief in the night that can steal our sight” - Glaucoma. Many fear, but don’t understand, this potentially blinding disease of the eyes. Davinder Grover, M.D., from Glaucoma Associates of Texas joins us to share his passion for treating glaucoma and assuring patients that they don’t have to lose their sight, especially if it is caught early.

We featured this on our very first episode, and are glad to bring Donna in to shine a different light on how this program is helping North Texans in need, especially during Covid 19.

A recent study through 2017 indicated that 1 in 6 children ages 9-17 has a learning disability.
