She received her medical degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine and a Master's of Science degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from McGill University. She specializes in healthcare associated infections and international health, emerging infectious diseases, outbreak investigation and is experienced in travel and tropical medicine, Staphylococcus aureus infections, antimicrobial resistance, epidemiology, and infection prevention and control.She also speaks multiple languages, including French.

Author and Distinguished Scholar, John Barry joins us to talk about his book "The Great Influenza: the story of the Deadliest Pandemic in History" which chronicles the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic that killed millions of people worldwide. Stephen Love, DFW Hospital Council President & CEO, discusses the correlations between 1918 and today's Covid-19 pandemic. John also tackles the tough questions of how long we will be dealing with this pandemic and what back-to-school might look like this fall.

In addition to writing best-selling books, op-ed columns in prominent newspapers and appearing on numerous national media as one of the world's leading experts on pandemics, John is also Distinguished Scholar at Tulane's Bywater Institute and a professor at the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, he lives in New Orleans.

Chris Eades, shareholder with Hall Render, discusses a legal perspective on telemedicine in Segment four. Telemedicine was certainly being used in many settings prior to Covid-19, but since March it has obviously become mainstream for many medical office visits. What was born from necessity may very well become routine in the future, however, not without hurdles that need to be addressed. In this interview, Stephen Love and Chris Eades discuss the past, present and future of telemedicine from a legal perspective.

As Covid-19 continues to surge in Texas and several other states, Stephen Love of the DFW Hospital Council updates the current status in Segment 1, including a reinstatement of the one solution to getting North Texas back fully, which is to "wear a mask!"

The TCHATT Program is designed to deliver telemedicine services to public school students experiencing a mental health crisis. Covid numbers continue to spike in North Texas and Stephen Love and Thomas Miller discuss how it is impacting local hospitals this week as more pressure is applied to the system.

There's a new program that will help kids and students acquire behavioral health counseling and treatment from their primary care family physicians. This was first implemented in May, but will be in full-swing for the 2020-21 school year. Jason Isham from Children's Health is here to explain the Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN) and also about the much-needed effort to remove stigmas around behavioral health treatment, especially with our youth.

Sherri Puffer, M.D., is an ObGyn practicing at Women's Health Services in Arlington, a multi-physician specialty practice. She joins us to talk about things couples can do if they are wanting to start a family, but are experiencing challenges with fertility. If you are, or know a couple who is, having challenges in this area, this will be a very informative segment.

Pat Jackson, RN MA from Children's Heath joins us in the last segment for a conversation with Steve Love on tips and reminders of the basics that are unfortunately being forgotten by too many right now as Covid-19 positive tests keep increasing in Texas. The main theme that Steve and this program would like to communicate, especially right now, is to please...."Wear a Mask!"

Even on this holiday weekend, COVID-19 cases are jumping in many states, including Texas. Stephen Love and Thomas Miller discuss the latest updates during the pandemic. Stephen offers a dire warning that if current trends continue, hospitals will be approaching an alarming surge mode by the end of the month. Masks, washing hands and keeping a safe distance from others is key - and should be strictly adhered to over the holiday.

In our second and third segments, we talk to Winjie Miao, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Experience Officer at Texas Health Resources. She will discuss innovative technologies in healthcare today. Winjie shares her perspective of what is changing, and what has changed since COVID-19.

In our last segment, Dr. Brian Jones, Vice President, Managed Care and Shannon Huggins, Senior Vice President, Population Health, both from Methodist Health System, will talk about the ongoing opioid crisis. They are coordinating an innovative new program that promotes alternatives to the uncomfortably high number of opioids in circulation.
