  • The therapy BEHIND the therapy
An interesting day in class prompted this topic—what does the client REALLY need and how can you meet that need in therapy?
We all have things that we missed out on in childhood—maybe we weren’t listened to, weren’t validated, weren’t praised or felt our emotions weren’t safe to express.
When working with a client in therapy we have an opportunity to do deep healing work with the client, beyond giving them hypnosis on their goal—we have an opportunity to give the client what they never received growing up.
Tune in and learn how to do sessions that go way beyond what is achieved in the hypnosis chair. Learn to do sessions that finally satisfy your clients deepest needs

  • Is your Communication Killing your Practice?
It is essential that we embody the role of the therapist when we are working with and dealing with our clients. This therapeutic role is SO much different from how we typically deal with our friends and family that it requires conscious thought, practice and assessment . Being in a therapeutic role means listening differently, speaking differently, responding differently and receiving differently then we do talking to our family and friends. It requires using Unconditional Positive Regard t all times, putting judgment aside, putting opinion aside and resisting the desire to "fix" and advise the client.
Without mastering this new and unique way of communicating, we risk our practices being unsuccessful. We risk insulting clients, interfering with rapport and making clients feel unsafe.
In this episode I will be giving tips for developing your therapeutic role and how communication as a therapist is different than communicating as your "every day" self.

  • Help Your Client Put the Past to rest by Addressing Others
At the Hypno Dojo, I believe you have to have three things in place for your Hypnotherapy practice to be successful; Mindset, Mastery and Marketing.
This week I am tackling the Mastery piece by giving you a great technique that is applicable in so many situations—everything from dealing with a break up to clearing unresolved issues with a parent or past partner.
Addressing Others is a non-invasive technique that gives the client the opportunity to say what needs to be said and hear what needs to be heard so that she is no longer carrying stuck, unexpressed emotion.
Here is a script for the technique

  • Pain Management with Hypnotherapy
Although no client will ever want to hear “Your pain is all in your head”, every type of pain has two components; physical and emotional/subconscious.
Physical pain is the portion of the pain that stems from an obvious physical cause such as an accident, disorder or condition.
However, pain can also be mind-created.
Subconscious/ emotional pain is the portion of the pain that is created by the client’s SC mind or their emotions, expectations and experiences of pain. For example, if a client is anticipating pain when having a baby the act of telling oneself that there is going to be pain or  hearing other people’s painful birth stories creates the pain (what is in our Sc mind is automatically acted out). The expectation of pain causes the client to tense and this tension exacerbates the pain. Tension, fear, anxiety, beliefs about pain, previous experiences of pain, being exposed to other’s experiences of pain, anticipation of pain ALL CREATE PAIN!
So, the trick becomes to determine how much of the pain a client is experiencing actually stems from a physical cause and how much stems from an emotional/SC cause.  Each type needs to be treated appropriately.
In this episode I will tell you how to identify which type of pain you are working with and what you can do in each case to address and eliminate or reduce the pain or symptom.

  • Smokin' Smoking Cessation Sessions With Hypnotherapy
Most people who come to see me to quit smoking have tried several other means to quit including medical interventions, laser, the patch, nicotine gum and cold turkey. Some of my clients have told me things like “Quitting smoking is EASY! I have done that 100 times!” while others say they have had little success with quitting smoking for any length of time at all.
Thankfully Hypnotherapy can help anyone who truly wants help to quit smoking.
A 2004 article by Gary R. Elkins and M. Hasan Rajab in ‘The International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis reported the results of a 3-session workshop. 81% acknowledged that they had completely ceased smoking immediately following the workshop. Twelve months later, 48% reported that had never smoked at all following the workshop. Maybe not perfect. But this was only three sessions. And these smoking cessation sessions would have been conducted with an entire group of participants instead of one on one, as mine are conducted. This means that there would not have been the personalizing of suggestions and hypnotic technique to suite the client that you receive working with me on an individual level.
In this episode, Ill teach you how to get even better results by personalizing sessions and listening for the relevant information that needs to be addressed with your client
