The specific story that triggered him was a Wall Street Journal report on five Air Force refueling planes struck at a Saudi air base. Trump called it false. The media that actually distributed an AI generated video of the USS Abraham Lincoln on fire? That was Iranian propaganda. The press debunked it. The president lied about it.

Dan also covers the NBC poll showing a historic reversal in American public opinion on Israel, the ongoing collapse of the Iran campaign, allies refusing to protect the Straits of Hormuz, six dead service members the president refused to acknowledge, and a new threat being floated: Cuba.

A successful authoritarian movement does not need to clamp down on voting, does not need endless wars, does not need its leader to admit he is sleeping through it. The working class is close to breaking free. And like any abusive relationship, the most dangerous moment is when you try to leave. But you can stay and get abused, or you can get out.

Three ships have been struck in the Strait of Hormuz, and the global economy is now in freefall.

Today's episode opens on breaking news: multiple vessels hit in one of the most critical shipping chokepoints on earth. Twenty percent of the world's oil supply and thirty percent of its fertilizer move through that twenty-one mile lane. Oil prices, which were already volatile, spiked past $110 per barrel live on air. We're tracking a trajectory toward $300 per barrel, a shock that would eclipse the 1973 oil embargo by three times over.

And it's springtime. Farmers plant in springtime. With fertilizer supply chains now severed, the food price crisis that follows won't just hit your grocery bill. It will hit India, China, the Philippines, which has already mandated a four-day work week to ration energy, and Australia, which is now having open public conversations about how long its fuel supply will last.

There is no plan to end this. A war with no plan is a war with no end.

We also dig into the girls school in Iran, struck now by what appears to be a triple tap Tomahawk strike that killed 175 people, including the wife and daughter of Iran's new supreme leader. We raise a direct and uncomfortable question: was this target selected by a human being, or by an AI system? With 2,000 strikes launched in the first 24 hours of Operation Epic Fury and the U.S. military's Project Maven autonomous targeting system in the background, the math does not add up. A park called Police Park was struck. We ask what a human targetter would have seen there, and what an algorithm might have seen instead.

Chuck Schumer accidentally told the truth on the Senate floor. 89 percent of Democrats oppose this war. Hakeem Jeffries and Schumer have done nothing. Calls within the caucus to remove them from leadership are growing louder.

In Georgia, Sean Harris, the Democrat running in Marjorie Taylor Greene's old seat, finished first with 37 percent against 12 Republicans in a special election. It's heading to a runoff. Watch that seat.

Pete Hegseth's Pentagon spent $93 billion in a single month, the highest single-month figure on record, including $6.9 million on lobster tail, $2 million on Alaskan king crab, a $98,000 Steinway grand piano, and $225 million on furniture, while millions of Americans were losing SNAP benefits during the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

Kristi Noem is out at DHS after a $220 million taxpayer-funded ad campaign that skipped competitive bidding and went to contractors with ties to her own political operation. When Congress asked her about it under oath, she said Trump approved it. Trump told reporters he never knew anything about it. CNN put it plainly: someone lied. Markwayne Mullin is the new DHS nominee. The money is gone and the accountability is not coming.

Trump launched Operation Epic Fury on February 28th after weeks of a public, visible military buildup in the Middle East, and issued no travel advisories, no evacuation orders, and no charter flights for American citizens in the region. When stranded Americans called the State Department hotline, the recorded message told them not to rely on the government for evacuation. When asked why there was no plan, Trump said it happened very quickly. The buildup took weeks.

While the war burns through roughly $900 million per day in Pentagon munitions, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump have announced a major investment in a Florida-based drone company called Powerus, which is, in the company's own words, vying to meet fresh demand from the Pentagon. Eric Trump is also separately invested in an Israeli drone maker with an active Defense Department contract. Their father's administration banned Chinese drone competitors and then started a war in which drones are a central battlefield tool.

And finally, CNN's reporting based on more than half a dozen current and former aides confirms that the people closest to Trump, including JD Vance, General Dan Caine, Marco Rubio, and Susie Wiles, counseled caution or expressed reservations about the war. The loudest pro-war voices came from outside the White House, most notably Lindsey Graham, who reportedly traveled to Israel multiple times to lobby Trump alongside Netanyahu. The people in the room with guardrails chose to manage optics and fall in line instead.

This is not a collection of unconnected scandals. It is a system. Today we name every piece of it.

Trump has announced he will veto every piece of legislation until Congress passes the SAVE Act, a bill requiring proof of citizenship to vote and eliminating mail-in voting for most Americans. The Brennan Center found 30 suspected cases of non-citizen voting across 23.5 million voters. This is not about fraud. It is about making the 2026 elections unadministrable.

Anthropic filed a federal lawsuit against the Trump administration this morning, alleging First Amendment retaliation after the White House blacklisted their AI for refusing to allow it to be used for autonomous weapons or domestic surveillance of Americans. From there, Dan challenges the assumption that anti-fascism is a Democrat position, lays out Marxism as a diagnostic tool for understanding the Iran war and the military-industrial complex, and makes the case that the democracy people are panicking about losing was already gone long before Trump arrived.

He introduces what may be the show's best metaphor yet: the coin pusher machine. We are all coins being slowly pushed toward the edge. Most of us are still in the back. Most of us are watching the people at the front fall and saying, glad that's not me. But instead of stopping the machine, we have been conditioned to blame the coin in front of us, the immigrant, the Iranian, the person being crushed by the same system from a different angle.

The Democrats, Dan argues, do not stop the machine. They shuffle the coins back from the edge, declare victory, and tell you to vote blue no matter who. Harm reduction is not liberation.

Then he takes it to the ground level with Camp East Montana, the nation's largest ICE detention facility in El Paso, where a measles outbreak has put 14 people in confirmed cases and 112 in isolation. The facility, built in two months inside desert tents and holding nearly 3,000 people, was handed to a single-man Virginia company with zero detention experience on a 1.2 billion dollar contract. The official government response to the crisis: get a grip.

The through line is one question: when are we going to stop the machine?
