If you ever think you’re going through adversity and nobody really understands you, then you’re about to have your perspective challenged with today’s guest.
In the early hours of Christmas Eve 2007, British Royal Marines Commando Mark Ormrod was out on a routine foot patrol in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan when he stepped on and triggered an Improvised Explosive Device.
Thanks to the swift action of the men around him and the intervention of the Medical Emergency Response Team he was airlifted by helicopter to an emergency field hospital in a desperate attempt to try and save his life.
An innovative and dangerous procedure carried out onboard a Chinook helicopter en route to the hospital did save his life.
He woke up three days later in a hospital in the UK: with both legs amputated above the knee and his right arm amputated above the elbow. He was the UK’s first triple amputee to survive the Afghanistan conflict.
During his recovery the doctors told him that he’d never walk again and that he should prepare himself for the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
Now it would have been understandable for Mark to bitterly withdraw in a state of anger and depression and to resign himself to live life on the sidelines.
It would have been easy for him to cash in his disability pension and whittle away the days, forever regretting the decision to join the Marines and to deploy to Afghanistan, but he didn’t. To the contrary he used his set back as a springboard for growth and reinvention.
Mark Ormrod turned his personal tragedy into an on going story of personal success and he is now committed to helping others who may have suffered setbacks or feel they are not yet achieving their maximum potential to take charge of their lives, unleash their personal power and live a life with #NoLimits

In this episode, Chris and Sarah discuss their learnings and ‘aha’ moments from Chris’ energizing conversation in Episode 66 with Gene McNaughton.
Gene is the President of Success Resources America who’s mission to bring the best of the world to the rest of the world.
They are the largest and most successful live events promoter in North America dedicated to helping people identify and breakthrough the hidden challenges that hold them back from reaching their full potential in their relationships, finances, health, fulfillment and so much more.
Success Resources is the engine behind some of the biggest and most popular personal and business development seminars including National Achievers Congress or Millionaire Mind Intensive bringing legends like Gary Vaynerchuk, Tony Robbins, Grant Cardone, and Les Brown to the masses.
And it’s no surprise that in this time of Covid19 pandemic, Gene has personally been on a mission to get resourceful and reinvent how to lead and bring value at a time when live public events and social gatherings are completely shuttered.
What’s more, Gene is someone who speaks with fierce honesty and decades-long track records of proven results in growing businesses and growing people.

One of the things I find fascinating about the current pandemic we’re living through is that virtually every one, every neighbourhood and every city on the planet is dealing with the same thing…and yet some are dealing with it very differently.
When you examine what some countries, some companies and some leaders are doing and saying, it’s remarkable that with the same data, people can come up with very different ways to interpret it.
It’s a constant reminder that just because we see things a certain way, doesn’t mean that’s the only way…and we always have a choice as to the meaning we give any circumstance or challenge.
And what it ultimately boils down to is managing our perspective.
So to help with that I’m delighted to bring to you a recent conversation I had with Gene McNaughton.
Gene brings a very clear perspective on dealing with the current environment and what I appreciate about Gene is that he isn’t just forming his views from his own singular vantage point.
You see, Gene is the President of the largest seminar company in North America.
His job is spending time with some of the world’s best business minds, athletes, subject matter experts and inspirational teachers. Recently, he’s launched a free online series called Meetings with the Masters where he goes 1-1 with these extraordinary achievers to find out their strategies and tools for thriving in uncommon times.
I encourage you to not only listen closely to Gene’s views but mostly to take the action he recommends. There is some appropriate urgency in his voice and the wise choice is to do as Gene says.
Enjoy the conversation…

In this episode, Chris and Sarah discuss their learnings and ‘aha’ moments from Chris’ profound conversation in Episode 63 with Jill Wheatley.
Jill was enjoying a life of travel and teaching until one fateful day in 2014 that would change her life forever.
What started as a normal day, working as a health, sport science and physical education teacher in Bavaria, Germany, Jill was (by accident) struck in the head by a student’s line-drive baseball causing a cracked skull and a severely traumatized brain that left her visually impaired, with a life threatening eating disorder and just days away from death.
This put her on an intense roller-coaster of a journey for more than two years in seven different hospitals in three countries. The fear, overwhelm and anxiety of what was happening to her mind and body lead Jill to deeply question the point of living.
But through her countless dark nights of the soul, Jill was eventually able to see more light.
With a change in perspective, living more from gratitude and seeing new opportunities, Jill was able to find the inner strength she never believed she had.
Turning what she saw as the “end of her life as she knew it” into a “celebration of the life she nearly lost”, Jill is embracing her new reality by running mountains around the world and capturing her adventures on her captivating blog at www.mountainsofmymind.com, where she shares her experience to create awareness of seriousness of traumatic brain injury and to help others going through adversity to see light when they might only see the mountains in front of them.
Also mentioned in this After Show episode was the incredible story in Episode 22 – The Art and War of Forgiveness with Andrew O’Brien. Check out THAT amazing example of what we humans are capable of.

Every now and again I come across a story of human endeavour and perseverance that makes me stop in my tracks.
The kind of story that makes you pause and take stock of how you’re living your life, what you’re taking for granted, what you’re seeing a huge problem or major inconvenience.
Today I’m excited to bring you the kind of story that forces you to reboot your perspective and remember that any problem you think you have pales in comparison to what other people are having to deal with.
Imagine getting up tomorrow and going off to work just as you do every day. Nothing different, everything the same.
That is until, everything changes and your world is turned upside down.
That’s exactly what happened to Jill Wheatley. You’ll hear her incredible story in a minute.
I hope this interview with Jill reminds you of three things:
