After years of working 60- and 70-hour weeks, raising two young children, and experiencing the effects of a high-stress management role, Laurie began setting boundaries and searching for balance. Meditation, nature, and going within eventually led her to Reiki—one of the practices that later became a pillar of Angelic Roots.

What began as a personal healing journey was never intended to become a business. But after experiencing changes in herself, her family, and those around her, Laurie envisioned a wellness center where others could explore their own paths toward well-being.

Ten years later, Angelic Roots has grown into a crystal shop and wellness community with two Oak Creek locations, treatment and classroom spaces, a management team, and 16 practitioners.

Laurie explains how she created a light, welcoming environment for people from every background—even those skeptical of Reiki, crystals, or energy work. Drawing from her healthcare experience and laboratory science degree, she helps people explore these practices while honoring their questions.

The conversation also examines how Angelic Roots navigated COVID during a major renovation. When the expected nine-month project stretched to approximately 18 months, the team leaned into online sales and live videos.

Those live conversations became about more than products. They gave people a place to connect during an isolating time and helped Angelic Roots grow while other businesses struggled.

Laurie also discusses why authenticity cannot be rushed, trust takes time, entrepreneurs cannot succeed alone, and business owners must become comfortable with being uncomfortable.

She shares how delegating and developing an empowered management team have helped Angelic Roots grow while giving her family greater freedom.
