It’s a strange transition from being hyper-aware to just being a regular person. We walk into stores like we’re on patrol, scanning for exits and suspicious behavior.

Why does that happen? It’s part of our DNA. We’ve been trained to be alert, and it’s hard to switch modes.

Even at a birthday party, I’ve caught myself thinking about emergency scenarios instead of just enjoying the cake!

Here’s a challenge: when you’re off duty, truly be off duty. Breathe, relax, and let go of the constant vigilance.

It’s a heavy burden—working full-time jobs while responding to emergencies, often without proper support. The reality is, many carry mental scars that go unnoticed. 

I’ve been there, turning to exercise as my escape, but that’s not always the answer. It’s time we redefine strength. 

Let’s break the stigma. Checking in on your volunteer friends can make a world of difference. Remember, healing is stronger than a smile. 

Stay imperfect, stay honest, and let’s lift each other up.

Did you know many EMTs earn barely above fast food wages despite their extensive training? They’re out there making critical decisions in the chaos of an emergency, often without a second thought.

And nurses? They juggle multiple high-stress roles, from medical experts to crisis negotiators, all while managing to care for patients.

Let’s shift the narrative. Acknowledgment is crucial. When healthcare workers feel invisible, burnout skyrockets.

So today, if you know a nurse or EMT, thank them. Bring snacks—because in healthcare, snacks are the universal love language!
