Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump saved the Constitution, the former doing his part with his GOP Senate colleagues to hold open the SCOTUS vacancy after Justice Scalia’s death and the latter nominating —no hearings, no votes on a new justice until after the 2016 presidential election— and the former by nominating 3 originalists whom Leader McConnell guided to confirmation. Most of today’s show is a discussion of how Alliance Defending Freedom is using the current moment of opportunity to preserve and in some cases restore our Constitutional rights to free speech and free exercise of religion. People are voting their pocketbooks this election, to rebuke public schools for their massive failure during Covid, to fund police and demand the border be closed. But we also have to vote to put McConnell and the GOP back in charge of assuring nominees to the federal courts are vetted and “living Constitution” enthusiasts turned away from lifetime appointments devoted to imposing progressivism in place of the Constitutuion.
