In September 2010 when he was 27 years old, Ben Clench and his girlfriend, Jazz, were hit by a car while on holiday in the Dominican Republic. Jazz was killed instantly, but Ben narrowly survived. He suffered a traumatic brain injury which left him in a coma and then with amnesia. So determined to rehabilitate, Ben re-learned how to ride a bike, how to swim, he ran a half-marathon and started earning his second master’s degree all within a year of the accident. In this interview, Ben talks about his recently published book, Ben Again: The Inspirational Memoir of a Traumatic Brain Injury Survivor. He talks about his journey, including what it was like to have amnesia, his mindset through his recovery, and why the love and support from his family and friends were vital to the success of his recovery.
As a side note, Ben will be speaking soon at TEDxBrighton on October 26, 2018. So if you're in the area, please go check it out.
