The Islanders played a strong offensive game in Jean-Gabriel Pageau's Isles debut but fell to the Rangers 4-3 in OT. Pageau scored a goal and got into a fight defending Michael Dal Colle after a cheap shot by Jacob Truba. The Islanders managed 45 shots on goal in the game and tied it in the final minute to force OT.
