Naomi Kahn is the Director of the International Division at Regavim, a research-based think tank and lobbying group dedicated to the protection and preservation of Israel’s sovereignty.

When arguments about Hamas violence or Palestinian terror gain momentum, the conversation is often deflected to a single accusation: “What about settler violence in the West Bank?” which has become a common catch cry. 

Pro-Israel advocates stumble or fall silent, while self-described neutral observers automatically side with the accusation. 

The reason is straightforward – there is very little media coverage on where “settler violence” claims come from, how they are measured, or how they compare with realities on the ground.

Peter Wertheim has been involved with the ECAJ for nearly 30 years and is currently its co-CEO. Peter previously worked as a lawyer for 32 years, during which he acted as honorary solicitor for a number of charities in the Jewish and wider communities.

We spoke about the outcome of the parliamentary measures to combat antisemitism, considering concerns about the nature of the legislation. 

We also looked at how community members can make submissions to the Australian Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion and discussed the NSW inquiry that is currently considering measures to prohibit slogans that incite hatred.

We spoke of former PM Scott Morrison's call for controls to be placed on the practice of Islam in Australia and considered what motivated PM Albanese to issue an invitation to Israeli President Herzog who is being touted as a war criminal by very misguided anti-Israel protestors.
