I think about times in this country when veterans were held in high regard, and times when, sadly, they were not recognized for their service. I think about the Vietnam War and how there were so many protesters at the time that they did not get the parade that so many veterans got. Fortunately, I think we're in a time in which veterans are put on a pedestal. If you really think about the ultimate sacrifice that many of them made and those who came home often have mental scars that will never be healed, we owe a debt of gratitude.
