Jennifer and Chris talk about the ways in which the MCA has become more that just a "gym and swim" organization. The YMCA of Frederick County is branching out to assist all citizens of the county in a variety of social ways..

The Frederick Literacy Council helps adults who are lacking in reading, math, and speaking skills to maintain jobs. With help from this organization, hundreds of adults are being assisted to be able to be successful in their jobs and lives. Laurie Fisher is the director of the organization. We also had two tutors Marianne Dacey and Denise Dertzbaugh, who have established a basic skills program for restaurant workers also describe their experiences. Some clients have limited english skills while others are non speakers.

Laurey is a local Psycotherapist who centers her work around trauma and grief assistance. She speaks of ways to support those experiencing PTSD, addiction, and tramatic diseases such as tramatic injury and Cancer. She cordinates a weekly Cancer support group in the Monocacy Valley Church across from the Oakdale Middle School.
