This week Rochelle Zucker begins with selections from a recently released recording of new original Klezmer music - Villages of Old.  The music is composed by Roger Davidson and performed by Roger Davidson and TheFrank London Klezmer Orchestra.Rochelle then continues with music from two of the other groups Frank London founded - The Klezmatics and  Frank London's Klezmer Brass Allstars.  London is a talented and innovative trumpet player, band leader, composer and arranger.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

The United Nations has designated January 27, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, as a time to remember the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and the millions of other victims of Nazi persecution. 

On the Yiddish Segment  first yor will hear several selections from a recording  Gedenk Remember - Yiddish Ghetto Songs.  They Are performed by singers from the Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre in Montreal.The next featured project is Yiddish Glory - The Lost Songs of Worldwar II.  The program ends with a selection from Silent Tears  - The Last Yiddish Tango .

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Dan Rosenberg will introduce Silent Tears - The Last Yiddish Tango..The songs for this project .are based on poems, testimonies and writings of women who were victims of sexual violence and torture during the Holocaust.  

Dr. Zisl Slepovitch will provide insight about  Songs From The Testimonies,  a musical research and performance based on poems and songs in the interviews with Holocaust survivors recorded at Yale’s Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies.
